I have a set of these and the water was getting in around where you plug the wires in at the point where that meet the casing

Another option to water seal it is to spray the entire back side of the lights with a product called flex seal. since its sprayed on you can get even coverage throughout. If that doesn't work then nothing will.

Any chance of adding a rubber o ring on it? You should be able to get it in any hardware store. Try get silicone instead of rubber, but rubber works as well.

That’s insane that they’re still selling these…. What kind of business model is that

I’ve tried to contact Bayoptiks about the damage on one of them but no reply at all. Kinda concerned.

The flickering is def a nuisance but it doesn’t look like anything else is flickering wrong besides start up is that correct ? One of the main issue people have had here is the water getting in. If it rains a lot where you live or it’s humid then you’ll end up with condensation. From what I’ve seen as of late the lights with “LED” written on them are good and I was able to find some from a recommended seller on Aliexpress but obviously there’s no guarantees. I even asked the seller if there was anyway they could check but they weren’t trying to wet the rear taillights in a video for me lol I tried right ? lol they told me (and I quote)
“Just install new lights, try to avoid washing the car, We have sold a lot of this tail light, and no customer has ever fed back the problem of water inflow.” Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to motivate me to gamble and make the purchase. Out of curiosity what do your taillights say on them ?

The taillights I got from BayOptiks say LED on the side. So far no water or condensation has gotten in it yet and it’s been raining for a few days now. As far as the fitment issue, I found the reason and solution why there was a gap. The aftermarket outer lights has a step where the 10mm nut tightens the lights down and I just drilled a slightly larger hole and touch up paint to make them slide in flush with the body. The OEM tail lights still mounts fine if anything you have more room to align the tail lights. The inner I had to use a few washers to get the fitment almost right. It’s not perfect but nothing anyone would notice unless they were looking at them from the top. So far I can live with it; the startup animation is the only thing that bugs me. My RH inner came in damaged but they sent out a replacement.

Those look great! Great job installing them they look like OEM fitment 👍 I’m pretty positive you got a good set 🤞since it has the “LED” on the side.

The light animation being off is def annoying, something that would bug the hell out of me too, but nobody else would notice it really lol I wonder why that seems to be an ongoing issue with these, and there seems to be different animation patterns lol they can’t seem to get them in sync like OEM…..

Either way they look amazing 🤩 I might pull the trigger really soon on a set I think I can live with the weird start up as long as no condensation problems

After my frustration with Water, getting into the passenger outer tail I went back to stock. If anybody needs parts, please let me know. Inner tail lights are perfect. Left side is perfect. I was sent a brand new right side outer tail , but didn’t work properly. It’s unfortunate because they looked really good. Prefer someone local if possible.

I'm sorry if I'm a little slow here, but can someone please provide the detailed step-by-step instructions for removal of the passenger side rear 12V cigarette lighter panel? I am trying to replace the passenger side outer tail light (cracked) with an identical OEM replacement and would like to avoid the removal of the entire high-voltage fuses box located in the passenger side rear service panel and I understand working through the 12V cigarette lighter panel seems to be the most preferred method. Also, I've read some people talking about whether or not the light will need to be re-coded or not.... is this applicable for an OEM to OEM light swap on a 2019 X5? Any help/guidance is much appreciated!

(Note: This is my first post ever and I joined out of desperation trying to get this accomplished as I cannot pass the annual state-mandated "safety inspection" in Hawaii without this light replaced... which means I can no longer drive my car until this gets swapped, beause the inspection was due by the end of August.. ugh.)

Thanks again in advance.

I installed mine today and thought I would never complete it but once you know what you're doing it's straight forward.

1. On the cigarette panel, use a tool to pop the cap off in hole furthest to the right. Behind the cap is a nut (I believe 10mm), remove it.

2. Use a plastic tool to remove the frame of the cigarette panel. I worked right to left. As you get it pulled out you will have to remove the plug to the cigarette lighter.

3. Once removed you will see a nut above the fuse panel, holding the panel in place. No need to remove it. Just to the left of that nut is the nut that secures the taillight. It is behind the black insulation. Pull the insulation down to expose the nut. Remove the nut (10mm) and you can now remove the taillight. You will need an extension.

Sorry for the long delay in posting updates for these tail lights. But I may have a possible solution for you. I recently got a lot of condensation in my right outer tail light, more than before, and I though I was screwed and having the same issues as you. However, I was researching and realized that these LED lights NEED to vent. Water will get in no matter what and condensation will happen because LED is not hot enough to evaporate water that will always intrude. Read some post on Telsa tail lights.

What I figured out, was that my vent holes, the cloth covered ones were clogged and obstructed. They were not completely open with loose plastic inside (quality control issue). So I pealed the cloth sticker and cleared the hole. Slowly, over a week or so, the water completely evaporated.

Still doesn't fix the fact that AKD store is a scam and crap. But at least you can try this to salvage.

Has anyone done the aftermarket LCI conversation figured out how to alter the wiring to make the turn signal part lit? My signal lights and brake lights are shared with the bottom portion of the lights. The middle light which supposed to be for turn signals never light up.

Hey guys, I am gonna try and get these Beamer plug LCI tail lights in soon, but I'm pretty worried given all the posts in this forum, has anyone installed the Beamer plug? Do the tail lights need to be completely sealed or are they actually supposed to vent like another member suggested?

I happened to see the the real (BMW) turn signal lights in action on LCI and was very underwhelmed by how they looked and how fast they flashed - while they look cool turned off I am not impressed with the functioning. I would save my money and put it elsewhere
