Longtime Bimmerpost member but first posting in the G05 forum with my new-to-me 2021 40i that I purchased coming off lease. I finally replaced my 2007 Touareg which I drove to the ground (needed an engine-out procedure for a new timing chain for quite some time and started to shake at 2-3k rpm). The X5 is silky smooth and I appreciate the quality of the interior. I'm looking forward to keeping her for some time and going on many journeys towing my track car or just tooling around with my pup!
Anyways, below is the new purchase, as she sits, along with one of my other fun vehicles, a 2023 Yamaha MT09SP.

Breakfast out….
As I walked out from breakfast with a buddy, I noticed the sun was hitting the Tanzanite Blue just right.
Finally got a license plate for it. Here, as volunteer firefighters, we’re allowed special “firefighter” plates for one personal vehicle that saves us a little money in the process. I need to order a license place frame that says, “Veteran US Air Force” next. Between those two, unless I’m doing something outrageously stupid, I should be relatively ticket-proof. At least I have a good answer when I get pulled over and the cop asks, “where’s the fire?” Typically though, we get 10x as many accident calls than fires. Picture below of an accident from last week that earned the young driver a life flight and a dui. He self-extracted through the trunk. If there had been a passenger, that person would have been killed. His iPhone called 911. That’s the second 911 that called in the accident on the same stretch of country road. Our 911 folks will call the number back. Apparently, the phone auto-answers and in this case, they could hear the car’s horn which was stuck on. |

Exactly 5 years ago, still enjoying it today, only 24,000 kms (14k miles) on the odometer, planning to keep it longer
