The damage looks cosmetic from what i could tell but you would have to pull the bumper off to really know if it damaged anything else in there.
You're right, of course. Could have been worse. I'll let the collision shop run a full diagnosis to determine how extensive the damage could be, or if it's only skin deep.
I plan on using BMW of Freeport Collision shop. Unless you know of a better option.
I trust your perspective and I know we're local to each other, so I'll take any insight from you Alan l.

I never used them but my buddy who use to be a Geico insurance adjuster highly recommended this place for me. I referred my buddy with a X3M there that needed a lot of body work done and he was 100% satisfied.

make sure you file a diminished value claim with the other parties insurance after the repairs are finished. this way you can get a check for the value your vehicle decreased due to the accident.

you may have to run some comps for same year X6M's with similar mileage to get an idea of what your decrease in value was.

I used to feel the same way, but a nice check in the mail made me feel better about the situation. lol.

New wheels, so I'll drop a picture here. Kind of a similar style to McCOMP above!

My wheels were built by Rusch (see my post on the Rusch thread with more photos). The machining is done in China. Overall I'd have to say the quality is very high, even to an absolute standard, and bang-for-buck is extremely good. I don't want to give away exact pricing, but let's call it somewhere in the $5-7k range delivered. Compared to some of the more familiar domestic names I was also looking at (similar styles and finishes), these came in at 40-50% of the price.

I’ve recently been reviewing resale options. Apparently, prices are really good if you were to resell to Russia. GL

Well.... first car I actually bought in over 10 years back in August, just lost significant value yesterday. So disappointed as I really liked this one.

Got rear ended yesterday on the Throggs Neck Bridge. Damage to the rear bumper and visible and audible damage to the exhaust system.

Even though I know the damage can be repaired, my OCD will make me see her as "tainted", from here on out.

After repairs are completed, I'll probably just eat the loss and start over next year after a sale or trade.

Thanks so much! I absolutely LOVE Donnington Grey! In fact I wanted a matching M8 Gran Coupe Competition in the same color before going with my Brands Hatch Grey M8GC.

I know we were both a bit apprehensive before deciding to buy out our leases. After buying mine out, my plan was to hold onto her until 2028. We'll see how the repairs go, now.
I'm watchful for potential rear-end accidents, as well. It's so frustrating to see the amount of people who drive distracted.
Unfortunately, I didn't have anywhere to go as I was in the middle lane on the bridge with cars all around (you know what the bridges look like at 5pm on a Monday) when I saw the Toyota's trajectory... all I could do is brace for the impact. If I tried to evade her, I would have had to make contact with some other car to the left or right of me.
I’m trying trying to fathom with what speed was she coming down in 5pm evening traffic in the city. Living in the mirrors has been a second hand nature of mine since my last car was totaled out when I got clipped on the southern state pkwy.

Hope your mental and of course physical state is well as the sad part about it is that insurers in our state will frown upon us despite nothing done in your wrong.

Thank you. I estimate she was at about 25-30 MPH at the time of the collision. At that time traffic was flowing at about 30-35 MPH, with your typical random slowdowns across the bridge.
Driving in the city area is definitely frustrating with all of the distracted drivers and "entitled" or "challenging" drivers. It's like "oh, you drive an ///M car..!?!, let me use the shoulder to keep up with you in my Toyota". Nothing against Toyota, I just encounter this more often than you would think, even when I'm on the bike!
Still working with insurance for the repairs, but my car won't be ready for me for another couple of weeks. New exhaust system required and TB2 paint ain't cheap, lol.

100% see the same crap on my drives in NY. People see a M car and they immediately get a hard on and feels like they need to prove something. It happens with fellow bmw owners as well the moment they see a modded BMW they need to gas hard then let off just to let me hear those ridiculous popcorn making sounds like i'm suppose to be impressed.

Where did you end up taking the car to for the work?

Alan

So true! Constantly getting challenged by drivers of many makes and models... usually the smaller sedans driven by the modded, backfiring, illuminated emblem class of driver, lol.
I ended up defaulting to BMW of Freeport for the repairs since they have been great with regular services and maintenance for years. Still waiting on a cat converter, apparently. Gonna be a couple more weeks before I get her back.
