I have a 19' X5 5.0 After 4 years of ownership (to the date) BMW is notifying me that my connected drive will no longer work as it does today. No remote start from mobile device, navigation won't be the same etc. I don't even know what else will stop working.
When I purchased the car , the monroney reflected the options, there is nothing about temporary use of the options. I had a friend that bought a new GMC Denali, The dealer charged them additionally for something that was on that monroney. They threatened to sue and GMC gave them a substantial rebate for the error. a few quick questions: What will no longer work after the expiration date? Is it worth it to pay the money? another poster said that the auto seat heating will no longer work? I also love that feature. I am a huge loyal BMW fan, this is my 10th BMW. This may force me away from the brand with this crazy software subscription stuff. None of this was mentioned in the sales process....of course! thank you for your feedback! |

The auto seat heating can be coded back with BimmerCode. So imo it's not worth it unless you use the factory navigation a lot. |

I really hate this subscription stuff when it applies to hardware already in the car.
A service if fair enough like map updates or RTtI, that’s fair enough but seating heating? Really? This does seem model specific as my 2023 g30 thankfully didn’t have any of this, I can use everything that is in the car , no subscription rubbish |

Unless the UK is different, it has it, just check your account online. The initial subscription period is four years for ConnectedDrive services in the US.

Maybe as there is nothing in my connected drive for heated seats or suchlike. I also remember the salesman stating something to that effect as I asked about it as I wasn’t happy about going that route

Heated seats are not subscription based. What folks are referring to here is the Climate Rules which is an app that is subscription based.

I coded this and its working fine but then the box for the drivers seat options keep unchecking themselves after a day? Did I miss some timeout code?

I have that sometimes too. But it isn't that frequent, like once a few weeks. Maybe it's the car handshaking with BMW server and trying to disable "climate control rules" due to no subscription? Try disable unused stuff in data privacy, I found that to be helpful to prevent the unchecking.
