Deer vs X5M

Name: IMG_4990.jpg
Views: 724
Size: 596.3 KBIt finally happened to me. Hit a deer going about 55MPH going home on Friday night. It was a baby deer not an Adult. Pretty sure an Adult-sized deer would have obliterated the front end. Car is still drivable and have Dashcam footage. I was able to drive home after dealing with the cops and everything. Insurance quoted 13k with non-OEM parts . I know the laser headlight itself (OEM) is around 5-6k ….Going to take it an auto body shop soon.

Those in the DMV area, I was recommended D&V AutoBody Masters. Anyone have luck with a BMW dealership with auto body work?

Thanks in advance.

That won't buff out. Really sucks but glad you're OK.

Sorry to hear that. Same thing this year with a 2 month old X5M. BMW Fairfax body shop did a fabulous job. Mine was about $15k and they handled everything with the insurance company from the claim to payment etc. Highly reccomend. Ask for Karl Spiess, he’s the body shop manager, drives a M himself. 703-698-8161.

Crap, my fear driving around in Loudoun County -- deers. D&V in Chantilly is good. BMW of Fairfax Body Shop would be my preference

Thanks! Gave him a call and will be taking my car since they are BMW certified. Parts and programming will be easier.
How long did it take to get your car back?

Thanks again!

X5M_MD Glad you are OK. The encounters with deers can be very dangerous. When I lived in DC metro area (Maryland), my neighbor hit a deer and the vehicle was totaled. Thankfully, everyone inside the vehicle wasn't hurt.

Could have been much worse, if they jump over the hood, it is right into the windshield they go... Glad you're ok!

Glad you’re ok. This post caught my attention because I just got my X5M (MBB also), and I have a lot of deer out by me that I was thinking of putting on a deer whistle on her lol. Hope it all gets taken care of for you.

BMW Safford Auto in Owings mills Handles all my body work and every time they are perfect. John Standiford is the POC 443-738-1414

They are BMW / Tesla Certified, they are pricey to the insurance companies, but the writers and adjusters all say their work is great with minimal comebacks and worth the price.
