45e - several errors and engine running rough
Asking for advice, what could be wrong.
x5 45e, 3 years, still under warranty, using auto hold feature (automatic parking brakes). It was about 65F outside. Went to a shop few miles away in EV mode (didn't drive car in ICE mode during the day, so the engine was cold). Battery charge was about 70%. Coming back to the car - started, EV mode, put in Reverse, got 3 errors: - parking brake malfunction - electric drive limited - don't remember the name of the 3rd one (it disappeared quickly). It was about the 12v battery charge and car was unable to move and needs towing. In parallel, ICE kicked-in and started to work really rough: engine struggled to maintain stable RPMs, ran with vibrations, and the RPMs fluctuated. I turned-off the car, started again, switched to EV mode - there was a check engine light and parking brake error. Switched to sport mode to start ICE - no issues, smooth work. Drove back home in ICE mode, by the end switch to EV, there were no issues so far. Brakes worked, parking brakes worked. Turned off the car, gave it few mins, started again - check engine light disappeared, parking brakes error disappeared. I know a low 12v battery charge could cause a "сhristmas tree lights" dashboard, but it doesn't explain a rough engine running. What could be wrong? I'm thinking to stop by at a dealership the next day, may be the error code(s) is/are still there and they can read it. Is it a good idea, or should I wait for it to happen again? |

Sorry to hear that. Since it's under warranty, take it to the dealership and please let us know what they find.
