2025 X5 40i - how to open exhaust flap

Hey All - just picked up my 2025 X5 40i today and want to open up the exhaust flap permanently. I know this could have been done via BimmerLink - I know this bc I opened this way on my 2021 X5, then once open, disconnected the power actuator.

However….when I connected BimmerLink to my new 2025 x5 today it said the exhaust flap function was not available and was not listed in the menu. Has anyone come across this? Anyone know a way to get the flap open for a short period so I can pull the power connection to keep it open?

The sound with the flap open was night and day.

From what I've read, the fuse needs to be pulled while the valve is open, and that only happens during full throttle driving. Cold start or putting the car in sports mode doesn't open that value, so you need to have someone in the trunk to pull out that fuse while you're going pedal to the metal!

Can I just get someone to rev high while car is in park? Will valves open then?

I believe that could work. The valves will open but unsure if they will open 100% of the way. I didn't want to deal with all that hassle, so I ended up buying an exhaust flap controller. Works great and can leave the valve open permanently.

From what I've read it's not worth the hassle. A number of peeps that did this resorted back to closing the valve due to droning at highway speeds.

I'm thinking of doing a resonator delete, which apparently makes way better of a sound improvement, and no droning.

From my experience, I did not have any drone with the valve open. At start you get a louder sounding exhaust which sounds good; especially during cold starts, but after the vehicle is warmed up it goes back to a lower tone.

I did it and I lost my clip I want to put it back. After using it always open it drones bad in the 70mph range. I wouldn’t recommend it.

i already bet i know the answer - no - but is there something out there like maybe bimmerlink where the (imo awful) electronic gauges would appear as an analogue replica of the old gauge cluster? i just loved those gauges and esp that little mpg dial that would swing back and forth. . what is the world coming to?
