X5 22 inch wheel and or tire warranty cost

Does anyone here know what is an approximate cost of tire and wheel or tire only warranty cost from BMW dealerships when purchasing a new X5? I want to know this because if I buy an X5 with 22 inch wheels knowing that replacing back tire would be 700+ and front tire 500+, tax, fees and alignment.

Also if one tire gets damaged and needs to be replaced at 5K, 15K or whatever K miles does the other side need to be changed automatically too?

Thank you.

That’s something you could shop around between dealers I think.

I don't know if that is true. I bought new cars before and dealerships always tell me once I go in and sign all the paperwork and buy the car then they offer tire and wheel warranty. If you refuse then you cannot buy the tire and wheel warranty after purchasing the new car. Strange. I just want to know if it worth purchasing warranty or buy some extra front and rear 22" wheels from tire rack for about $2500 or so. Plus Tire Rack has the Performance All Season Pirelli tires in stock for people that live in the East Coast. Appreantly they can handle minus 40 degrees from Dec to March here in NY according to reviews.

I bought the tire and wheel coverage. I hit a pothole on my 21 X6 with staggered 22. Rear tire replaced $600. Front bent wheel $1000. Is insurance worth it. It was to me…

Combination of width and hardness makes the tires a "magnet."

Maybe settling for 21 inch staggered wheels with RFT's would be better idea as you can still drive up to 50 miles with them.

If you have a Discount Tire store nearby check out their pricing. Corvette owners use them quite a bit.

My agreement signed September 2021 for a model year 2022 with 22 inch wheels, was $1595 for 84 months. As the tires are anywhere from $500 to $800, I have gone through probably six tires already and only paid the $50 deductible. Remember, nobody plugs tires anymore. wheel repair is really just for the cosmetic scrapes, and only covers 4 instances, but this is worth it just for the tires alone. BMW ultimate protection protection bought at the dealer when I picked up the car.

That was an awesome rate. I would have easily done that if that was the rate. Made me dig up my email to remind me how *much* it was that I declined it

3yr $ 2321.00 + tax
4yr $ 2809.00 + tax
5yr $ 3217.00 + tax

Here is what I was given from the financial services manager when I purchased my new X5 with 22 inch wheels. FYI, I am from Canada but gives you a sense of the cost. Prices of course are negotiable

Covers tires/rims that punctured (potholes, nails, screws, etc)
Covers tires and rims purchased throughout the contract (winter tires covered as well)

Tires and rims can be purchased anywhere
Claims can be made anywhere

3 years $2,260 plus tax
4 years $2,595 plus tax

Knock on wood but I have had good luck with rims and tires and I have never had a flat in my life. I was considering the tire warranty, but I think I'll just buy a dedicated extra set of wheels and tires for winter and keep the 20" RFT it comes with for summer only.

If I had 22" wheels I might think differently, replacing tires for those is nuts.

I may have all of you beat. When I bought my 2018 M3 from dealer, I got a 6 yr wheel and tire warranty for $1839 (Safe Guard was the provider). For my 20” tires (Michelin Pilot Suler Sport), I think I used that warranty maybe 5-6 times. And the best part was the $0 deductible.

So the cost of all my tire replacements far exceeded the $1839 I paid.

Always negotiate the price the finance guy that tries to sell you. You can easily get at least 25-30% off of what they quote. Never pay full price for tire and wheel protection (or any of the other dealer offered protection add-ons).

I purchased a warranty recently that had the tire and wheel coverage with cosmetic wheel coverage, PDR, and lost key. 5 years, one key per year, $2400 tire wheel per year. It was $1995 and issued by CNA. It was purchased at the Cadillac dealer where the X5 was traded in.

My X5 w/22's will be delivered next week so I was wondering the same thing. Fields BMW - Winter Park just quoted me the following:

Allstate Complete: 4 year Tire & Wheel $2,594 / No deductible

Also had them quote me Ceramic: They use Cilajet $1495 / 5 year Protection (both inside and out)

Good Luck!!

Within 6 months of owning my X6, I hit a pot hole and bent the front 22 staggered front wheel and cut the sidewall on the rear tire. $1000 for the front wheel and $600 for rear tire. I guess you be the judge if you need wheel and tire insurance. Staggered 22’s are pothole magnets lol

I run staggered 21s in the summer, square 20s in the winter. We took four long road trips in 2023-24, totaling 22,000 miles, and I’ve driven 37,000 miles. No rim damage, one flat due to a nail on a winter tire with 6,000 miles on it - covered under road hazard because it was six weeks old.

I’m ok without coverage - but I’m largely the only one who drives the car (beloved spouse logged 400 miles one day while I had a migraine on a road trip) and don’t do a ton of inner city driving or parallel parking. So for me - this works. You know the conditions, how you drive, who else might drive - factor all that in….

If I ever get an X5, I'm going to get the 20 inch wheels.. the ride quality, cheaper tires, and more sidewall are all good things.
