Totalled or repairable?

Hey everyone,

Almost got completely T-boned for Christmas. Managed to brake at the last second and cut the wheel to the right. Lady was under the influence and blew a red light going 50. Thankfully everyone was ok.

You guys think it’s totalled?

Dammit. I hope no one was seriously injured in that collision amd you're doing ok. Looks like you have good reflexes and instinct to maneuver in a way in an attempt to absorb some of the impact.

It's likely insurance companies will call this a total loss, since multiple airbags were deployed.

Stay stong and patient, and hopefully insurance will make you whole again with a brand new car.

Wow, you got lucky thankfully you’re ok.

Reg the car that laser light alone is probably going to total the car…

My guess is 40k to repair that assuming frame is not damaged.

Start shopping for a new car buddy and again glad you’re ok.

I had a 2019 X5 that was t-boned in an intersection with damage similar to yours but not as severe. Other car was only doing ~35mph through a red light. FWIW, my X5 was right on the borderline to be considered a total loss. I had a conversation with the insurance adjuster and was able to convince him it should be a total loss.

Based on my experience, I'm guessing yours will be classified as a total loss also.

Glad to hear everyone was ok. Best of luck getting it settled with insurance!

Man, very happy to hear no one was seriously hurt. Sickens me that people would drink and drive and put others' lives at risk. Car can be replaced, happy you are ok.

Echoing the number one sentiment - glad you are OK. Only the insurance adjuster will be able to make the determination whether vehicle is totaled. It's only a car.

Did you have a dash cam? How many miles on the vehicle prior to the accident?

You are better off if they total it, they are never the same after major repairs.

Glad you are OK - thank God!
The car will probably be totaled based on the photos, and since this is not your fault, your insurance company will make you whole quickly.

Best of luck!

No dashcam unfortunately. Wife was saying to get one the other day ironically. Street cameras caught it though. 28k miles.

The multiple airbag deployments are the biggest thing in your favor if you prefer it to be totaled. The other thing that needs serious inspection is the upper strut tower under the hood. That suspension being torn loose could have tweaked the strut tower which is not repairable. They are cast and part of the body.

Hopefully there is no doubt who is at fault. When your replacement vehicle is delivered, I suggest to get a dash cam. It's probably in shopping cart already. Glad you are OK. Cannot say enough about what really matters.

Sorry to hear and see what happened to your new toy. Thank goodness everyone is ok. The car did exactly what it is designed to do in such a case. Unfortunately it looks like a total loss. I am wondering if you have the drive recorder in your car in the app section of your idrive. If it is there, see if it recorded the accident. I have it on both my cars. Again sorry about your car.

glad everyone is ok. i think it is better that it is written off. with all the on board computers getting jolted by the impact you may end up having glitches and electrical gremlins afterwards.

Glad everyone’s ok. Definitely a total. I had a non-M G05 take a slight hit at that spot, and it was $30K to repair with no airbags. Just that headlight is $4K.
