Vertically challenge wife
Wife is 5 feet 2.5 inches (she says every inch counts) and isn't happy how difficult it is for her to get in and out of my 2025 X5 40i. She wants me to lower it. Seems like a lot of people are going H&R and Dinan lowering springs with about 1.5 inch drop. Are coilovers the only option to go any lower? Any of you have wives that have the same problem?
Is the suspension setup the same between the 40i, x60i and X5M? |

My wife is around 164 cm (so… 5ft 5” or so) and entering / exiting my X5 M60i is much less comfortable for her than for me. I’m going to lower my car in April/May using the AC Schnitzer springs (will combine the mod with putting on the new summer wheels I ordered from BC Forged). These give about 20-25 mm drop (around 1 inch), potentially slightly more on the front axle
Regarding height, with the M package and and on steel springs, the 40i and M60i sit at the same height. In Europe, also the diesels have the same suspension height as the petrol versions Only the air suspension allows to lower the car for entry/exit - and frankly in my opinion it’s the only benefit of that suspension setup

This is a good reason to get the X5 45e or 50e with air suspension. My wife has no issue with the 45e (shorter than your wife).

I think if she has issue with X5 height, lower it by 1.5" isn't going to help much. X5 does have higher ingress/egress height compared to other crossover SUV have down (QX60 and MDX). The height is still manageable. It is not the most comfortable getting in and out. We are 5-7 and 5-6

My wife is the same height and said the same about it being harder to get into than our previous X3. I lowered it with H&R and to me it seems about the same height as the X3 now. Wife got used to it

That is a lot of drop. Even even IF suspension geometry allows, and clearance allows, you will need very high rate springs, it will be a super choppy ride.
