Active Grill Shutters

Anyone know if the 2025 X5 M60i is supposed to have active grill shutters? I can’t seem to find a definitive answer. Just looking at the grill, it doesn’t look like they are present.

My 2019 40i had them. Am I supposed to have on the 2025??

Pre-LCI had them, LCI (2024+) does not.

No shutters on the Big Boy M60i.

Why do those even exist?

Just another BMW cutting cost on the LCI from the previous G05.

They are very common and have been out for a while. They increase aerodynamic and allow the vehicle to heat up quicker in the winter time. It is simple but effective.
Everyone uses them from exotics to pickups.

Anything is possible but it is a low probability part and even the pickups that has had them for years isn’t a liability part. It’s a pretty simple concept. The BMW electric sunshade is much more problematic and expensive to replace.

The question is not if they will break, it will in time. The real question is if that thing breaks, can I still use the car? Or does software brick it until it is fixed? Similar question I have for that seat belt tug.

Theyve been in use by BMW well over a decade, not many issues with them. Seems ODD they have dropped them form the M60i. The M50i has had them from the start, as above the help the car warm up quicker.

I had my lower shutters break on my 2021 X5. They throw a CEL and remote start is also disabled when cel is on. Repair is north of $700. Vehicle is still drivable and doesn't brick software.
