Hi everyone,

Does anyone in the group use Digital Key Plus with their X1?

And has anyone recently used this feature with an iPhone running iOS 26.4?

Well, since yesterday, my iPhone 17 Pro Max has been working perfectly with Digital Key Plus

So, I walk up to the car and it unlocks normally; I walk away from the car and it locks; I come back 10 minutes later and the car won’t unlock – I have to pull the handle and then the car wakes up

After that, everything works normally; I have my phone in my pocket and don’t need to put it on the charging tray; the car recognises the key correctly and starts

I can’t understand what happened after updating my phone to iOS 26.4; everything worked fine for a week.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, or have they had a similar problem and how did they deal with it?

I restarted iDrive yesterday by holding down the volume down button for 30 seconds, but it didn’t help

It’s incredibly frustrating

I’ve already tried loads of things – resetting the network settings on my iPhone, even a hard reset of the phone also check all settings in the car

The funny thing is that sometimes when I approach the car it opens, sometimes it doesn’t, and I have to touch the door handle for it to open

But I’ve noticed that when the car doesn’t open, if I go into Bluetooth, the Digital Key Plus accessory is connected, and if I go into the BMW app under the remote access section, the app/phone can see the car

And what’s even funnier is that when I approach the car and it doesn’t open, if I stand by the car, go into Apple Wallet, select the key, go into settings, turn off passive entry and turn it back on, the car opens automatically……without any problem

I would have thought there might be something wrong with the car, but I’ve shared the key with my wife, who uses an iPhone 15 Pro Max (which I know has caused a lot of problems for other users when it comes to Digital Key Plus), surprisingly, her phone works perfectly with the car

Does anyone have any ideas? And could help me with this please ?

What software version is your wifes phone on? Sounds like most likely a bug with 26.4 on your phone. Maybe try looking in to other 17 pro users reporting similar issues on iPhone/Apple related forums. Also maybe trying submitting a bug report to Apple. Hopefully they fix it.
