Hey guys, new here and hoping to get some advice.
I'm looking at buying a 18MY M3C from a main dealer, looked over the vehicle yesterday and its gorgeous, strong spec, FSH, drives like a dream and has around 50K miles on the clock. Everything looked good, but of course some things are always too good to be true. Looking through the service history of the car, I noticed that it's had the cylinder head gasket replaced under warranty back in October 2025. This instantly raised eyebrows for me, as I know it's no small job and generally the S55 is a solid engine when maintained correctly. If I was to go ahead and buy the vehicle, it would come with a 12month unlimited mileage warranty with BMW that I can also extend after that has expired. I'm waiting on some more info as to the reason why it was replaced which I should hopefully receive on Monday. But this is where I wanted to pose this question to you fine people and see what you think with your experience (this will be my first BMW), has anyone else here needed to have a head gasket replaced on an F80, would you avoid? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! |

Probably means the car over heated at some time blowing the head gasket. Could have been a fluid leak or a stuck thermostat. I would ask if the M3 has ever been tuned.
