Although it would be nice to have a centralized repository for top tips. The search function kind of sucks. Have ketchup chips much lately? |

5 pounds would be good, 10 pounds and I'd be thrilled but I hate being hungry so that's unlikely.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/030747...gaL&ref=plSrch Losing weight by dieting is super difficult if you're hungry and much harder to keep sustainable. I'm sure you know that, but it's the biggest hurdle. You either need to starve or totally reset your eating habits. There is a threshold where intake/output is not relevant...and it's usually at the homeostasis level people have to maintain weight. That's why if you restrict caloric intake and eat clean you can usually drop 5lbs fast...then the body resets... I'm struggling myself. My body is either muscular or fat. No in between. Sucks. |

My weight loss has slowed from 1 pound a week to .5 pound a week, but i've found evidence showing me why and I think I'm back on track.
Closing in on the 40 pound mark.

I kind of don't like telling people anymore because it makes me sound like a huge blob.... but i started at 235 in July of last year. I'm 196 today. The goal was to just get to a healthy weight then it was to get back to being fit cardio wise. I don't really have a goal weight per say but as far as fitness goes, I'm training for a particular cycling ride that i'm doing in July. After that i'll probably dial back the weekly milage and add in more strength training. But right now, i've got to get the weekly milage up to or above 100 miles per week. Currently, all my work outs are cycling/cardio/leg focused.
I just didn't look like a tub-o, even at 235, so it took forever to do something about it. I packed it on very evenly. Likely would have done something sooner if it would have all been in the spare tire area. I really don't look much different, just a bit smaller.

Seriously - In college I ate 9,000 calories a day because I needed this much to off-set my daily caloric burn. Nothing like 'having' to eat a dozen donuts to meet calorie intake

Whatever man, who cares if people want to think that. You should be proud that you lost all that weight in a healthy way. I might trade in heavy weights (for me) for cardio and cutting myself from now on. Still have muscle but gained so much fat that it's not worth worrying about keeping strength. |
