I think my order went in on late April. On May 6, I only discovered I can ask sales for VIN, got that, and start tracking. On May 6 it is at 150 - production started. By May 13, it moved to Quality check. Today it is still at Quality check. I wonder what is going on.
BTW, anyone has more detail on how to track what is production week? I try the F12 method, don't seem to get the info anymore. Am I missing something? |

Just received my X5 M50 on 5/19 with the manual lower tailgate. It doesn't have the lever like the F15 version, rather it still has the button which just releases it and then you push it down or up with your hand. Coming from an F15 I was used to this so it doesn't bother me. However, the deletion of the back seat release in the trunk bothers me!

Here's a video of manual lower tailgate on the 2022 X5. At 10:10.

It can likely be done, just a matter of how much money you want to throw at it. It certainly will cost many times more than the $150 credit.

My 2001 X5 (owned since new) has the manual tailgate and I never had problems using it. Just push the button, it electronically unlatches, and manually push the tailgate down. Barely requires any strength. I lower it only when loading or unloading large or heavy items.
The automatic is a nice-to-have but I wouldn’t cancel an order because it was missing. Your use case may be different, obviously. |

Does the thing where you can use your foot to open and close it still work on the top part with the manual lower gate?

I haven't heard of the kick sensor being deleted on the X5's officially or through the grapevine really. It appears to be a deletion currently on the I4's (I'm waiting on one of these as well) and people on forums are saying it's going to be a deletion on all cars.

Welcome to the forum. I think your dealer was explaining the normal operation of the tailgate to you. Those with the lower manual tailgate obviously will not work that way. What we are trying to determine is if the top half will work with the lower manual.

Thanks! He’s specifically referring to the manual lower tail when I was informed abt the deletion. And again I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about. I’ll take delivery in a few weeks and I’ll check on it myself and see how it really works lol

Just think about it, if it is manual how could it automatically open/close with your foot? What he was describing was how it operates when both the upper and lower have the motor. Maybe yours was not effected by the delete and that is what he was explaining.

I just received my 45e with manual lower tailgate and confirm that kick to open/close still works for the top tailgate. If the bottom tailgate is open when you try to kick to close, the car chimes and won’t close the top portion. This is the same thing that happens when you push the button on the top tailgate to close it when the bottom portion is open. Once the bottom tailgate is closed, kick to close the top portion works.

Is the online (build your bmw) not accurate until the order get's put in.
I just checked out the site and it still shows the -delete- and $150 credit in the build configuration. |

As far as the configurator goes, around this time if the year it is best to ignore it, build from the pricing guide and see what your CA is able to order for you.
