I think there's going to be a spectacular crash at some point in this race. This track is just so damned fast and unforgiving. It's really unlike any other track I can think of on the F1 calendar.

Totally agree, I cannot see that there won't be a smash especially on the first lap when they are still bunched up.

If anyone crashes on Sunday it's going to redflag the whole track because this track is so narrow, and it's not going to be easy to extract cars.

Holy moly I didn't expect Mercedes to be 2 tenths up on max, especially with the Mercs on mediums and max on softs. If this is Ham's old engine as well then it's going to be bad news for redbull.

Anything can change in FP3, in qualifying, and in the race specially on this track, for the reasons you just reiterated.

I'm not going to lie this track is Uber sketchy for those speeds. It's not like gravel trap to slow down as much as possible then wall. It's literally super fast -> wall.


Glad leclercs ok. But that Ferrari looks melted and the impact tbh didn't even look too bad (this means any minor impact on Sunday night mean a totaled car) they'll have so much work to do to build him a new chassis.


Holy alpha Tauri looks quick. Max is gonna need alpha to help again because Perez is nowhere to be seen.

Yup absolutely, free practice times are not a good indicator for quali times. But it does look like Mercedes does have some good speed, this means the speed was never due to their supposed flexi wing.

Qualifying will be interesting, those who didn't bank a lap in any session might cock up in the end if there's a red flag. However, given a brand new track and no traffic or other supporting race, wonder how the track evolve between sessions/days in grip levels.

E scooters are fun though, you can rent them in my city in the down town area (literally they are all over the sidewalks and you just walk up and use mobile pay to rent them) and they are awesome!

The walls should protect the track from sand to a certain extent blowing in from the beach,I would guess this is why they put the walls up.

Anyone know what Max defensive tactic is to keep a place this weekend? Normally it’s drive off the circuit or push them into a gravel trap.

Let’s hope he can actually try and race between the white lines, as his normal defensive tactics this season will have someone killed at this circuit if he does the same as normal.
