I have never owned a hybrid before so I'm a little bit cautious.
No regrets, loving it.

Battery 24kWh gives 80km range. Only filled up petrol for drives longer than 200km in same day. The only issue is very slow charge rate, 16A single phase. At supplied 8A charger takes over half a day. Auto electrician can fix that. Fastest charge it can achieve with installed cooling system is highway charging via petrol engine in 1 hr, on Battery Hold mode, but then what's the point if charging with petrol.

Default mode is Hybrid when starting, so have to change every time to Electric mode before driving. Bimmercode can fix window lifter interrupts, and 5 turn signal flasher, unless you drive like a Supra changing lanes in under 2 seconds.

I've filled up with petrol on average every 4 months at service station. My solar home is my daily service station, so while petrollers roll around looking for service stations every week for extra half hour, or more if looking for cheap fuel and queuing for another hour, I'll be saving that time.

My only regret is getting the Executive Package when I only got it in order to get the Laser lights. But if I wanted Laser lights, I didn't have any other options. So I bit the bullet, but it still angers me.

Me too. Plus it turns out laser isn’t even that good in my area.

1) you don’t have access to the full 24kWh battery capacity, only the usable capacity which is 21.6kWh in AUS market

2) you can set Electric drive mode as default

I did a 75 km trip today with 40 meter climb and only burnt 1.2 L of fuel according to the computer, at a temperature of only 5 °C here, amazing!

If I can choose again, I would opt for the merino leather and get the harman kardon audio system. I gotta admit I cheaped out on that but I am glad I got the full leather dash and laser light.

You selected the full leather dash over the sound system?

Yup, the HK system is one package up but I don't need any of other items in that package. This means I am paying extra 3,500 or sth to get the HK system.

However the leather dash in only a 1,500 single add on...

You can get Gas Buddy in Australia! Tells you where the cheapest gas can be found.

Cannot help it but what the ….

Which 3rd world place that one would need search gas station for half of a hour and then spend 1 hour queuing for fill up?? Are we taking about North Korea??? If one is in that kind of location, just what is a X5 is doing there?

I love them, don't get me wrong. I did it with my F15 as well (LED vs. HID) as the Laser lights makes the G05 look much more premium than with the standard headlights. But they should have offered it as an option by itself, not as part of an entire package.

I agree everything you said because you didn’t mention actual light output. I actually cannot tell if laser is ever on. Either I live a bright enough place they it never activate, or my eye sight is so good that I either don’t need laser to see or so bad that I cannot see the difference. 😅

1974 called. It wants its gas lines back.

No real 45e regrets for us, other than that we bought DAP and shouldn't have, as I've mentioned elsewhere. Really thrilled we didn't wait for the 50e. We brought it to FL for the winter and have treated it like a truck, regularly stuffing it full of furniture.

Even so, this will be our last, and only, BMW. Driving it scratched my German car itch, so I'm glad we have it, but there are things I'd rather do with money than set fire to it in the driveway through depreciation. I wouldn't care if we were going to own it for 8-10 years, but these aren't ten-year cars.

I agree. They look awesome when I look at the car from the outside. When I’m behind the windshield I fail to see any awesomeness. I’ve followed all of the rules = over 40mph and auto high beams on. My F90 with standard LEDs seems the same. Maybe even better.

We have a 2022 45e with 21000 miles. Lease is up in August. To date, the vehicle has been excellent. Nothing but maintenance has been required. We typically get new vehicles every 36 months once the leases end. How, this time, my wife wants to buy it out and keep it. In addition, today at least, the buyout seems to be meaningfully below market value.

My questions are: do you recommend an extended warranty? If so, which one and what should I pay for it? Second, for those whose mileage is getting up there, is anything I should be concerned about as it ages and the mileage accumulates?

If you like it, it has been doing well for you and you aren't itching for a new one then then buying it out seems like a good choice.

Extended warranties rarely make financial sense but where some get value from them is having the peace off mind that should something that is covered break, they don't have to pay for it. If you fall into that category make sure you shop around for a BMW Platinum Vehicle Service Contract, I can give some recommendations.

Thank you. Does this model have any known problems owners are reporting? And, if you don't mind, I would appreciate your service contract recommendations.

No common issues that I can remember seeing.

While I would not get one, I shopped around a few years ago for pricing and these three were the lowest and they continue to offer great pricing.

This is my first BMW I ever owned, and so far so impressed. It's a 2024 X5 50e PHEV only driven 1,200 miles so far, non issues at all in less than three months, gas tank still got more than 75% full, what a dream gas saving commute car to have since my daily round trip is around 20 miles, and it has electric range of 48 miles on a full charge.

Welcome to the forum. Out of curiosity, do you have free charging at work? Usually in the Bay Area it is more expensive to run on electricity than gas so wanted to see what you are experiencing.

he did say gas saving, not money saving

while running on electrons, one saves from using gas, but not necessarily money as we've heard from many Californians unless he does get to charge free somewhere like work (as you mentioned). curious, too...
