On my M50i with air suspension I noticed the rumbling on 22” Continentals non RFT immediately at speeds over 100 kph. As I didn’t have this with my 21” winter set, I finally decided to swap the 742M 22”s for a set of 741M with Pirelli RFT.
Result: rumbling gone (I also have acoustic glass) and the ride comfort is about the same. Bonus is that I actually prefer the design of the 741M over the 742M. |

I've had really good luck with my Pirelli PZ4's over the last year and a half... nice and quiet the entire time (21 inch setup)... but due to the cost of replacing these tires I am thinking of going to a squared 20 inch setup... What is a reasonable price to pay for a set of 740M wheels?

This is an old thread but please read the top of my first post for the resolution. The sound was definitely not normal. BMW forgot to install the dampeners and that was causing the sound. That fixed my problem. Crazy that the techs and even regional engineer couldn’t figure it out when I was able to determine I was missing it just by looking at the parts diagram online.

Look under your car and make sure you have part 13 in the diagram below. Mine was missing but my build is way back in Jan 2020

I just ordered a 2025 50e with 20" 740M rims, air suspension etc for delivery in late April in Spain. I do not know if the dampers will be installed, but getting parts to my location is very difficult so I'd like to order them in the US and bring them with me when I return. Where can I find the part numbers to place an order with my US dealer?

Did you install it? Was there a separate installation guide when installing it? Or. Can I just install it without worrying about tilting or anything like that? |

Anyone with a LCI and 20” tires having this issue? I swapped my RFT before with because they sounded just like this (and I was coming up on 25,000 miles). I went with a pirelli non RFt and the noise is still there. Sounds like a hollow drum.
I’m a B58 sport pkg no air ride. |

Yes, installing them resolved my issue. I simply bolted them on and hand tightened as best as I could reaching underneath the car. Just install them horizontally longways.

Thanks. I looked under mine tonight - the spot to mount these are there. I’m going to make a service appointment and push them to pay for and install. If I get push back I’ll take the plunge. It’s honestly the only thing that I don’t like about this car. It sounds like I’m driving in a Altima.

Took mine to the dealer -they said they were not supposed to be on the car from the factory so they wouldn't cover them. I also walked the lot and lookout 3 2025's - none of them had the part installed. maybe it was a cost cutting thing.... I went ahead and order to see if it solved my issue.
