Still there. I am also now noticing issues with active lane assist working even though it's disabled and CarPlay disconnects - which is fixed by putting phone of airplane and then back to normal.

Hi everyone. I am going nuts with the CarPlay issues. I called genius and they claim they never heard of this problem so wanted to ask here in case someone has a fix. We have an iPhone, connected to CarPlay. It auto connected when getting into the car about half the time. The other half, it just shows the WiFi connected icon and I can’t even click it to connect or disconnect. It just says phone connected to WiFi. I did the hard reset which fixes it but I am going nuts that I have to do this every time. Anyone heard of this?

I picked up an X5 50i last week, build date 11/2018. Over the weekend I have been having Idrive issues ever since I tried CarPlay and then coming out of it. These include inconsistent recognition of my Iphone, difficulties running playlist off my phone, difficulty switching to other media like FM or Sirius even when phone is disconnected, nav guide disappearing from HUD even when active on settings, etc. This occurred even after I quit CarPlay.
I checked the software. It is 11/2018.23. No updates are available. I was surprised as I see people reporting version .65. I emailed my BMW center. This is the reply I got: "BMWs of varying build dates will have mismatched software versions. The cars built recently get updates after cars built less recently. This ensures that any changes no matter how small made to different production date vehicles will not cause problems in the software version the car uses. So my recommendation is waiting for .65, or even something newer when it is rolled out to your vehicle. We cannot force download it, we do have to wait until it becomes available for your specific chassis." Does this make sense? The problems I reported went away only after a manual reboot (pushing volume button 30sec). As far as I am concerned, CarPlay is not usable. Thanks. |

ok, this is really bizarre..
i'm running .23 still (November build). I asked for the update and here is the response for the service manager: ---- Here is a screen shot from BMW about software versions in your car and any available updates. This is a public website that can be accessed by you anytime. Just go into google and search BMW KISU. A BMW website comes up for software update info. You type in the VIN and it tells you if there is an available version for your car. Your X5 is up to date. Also the iPhone X is not a compatible phone and is known for connectivity issues such as car play and track info from itunes. It shows your model year as 2018 but the vin is correct. There are updates for cars that are obviously out of date, but nothing for your vehicle at this time. What can I do to help you out? ---- |

That is not correct at all from what people here are reporting. Sounds like your dealer is just blowing you off, actually downright lying to you. If you don't have another dealer around then maybe try going to the general manager/owner of the dealership or call BMW and get them involved.

Dealer helped to update to 03/2019.30 today. Don’t know whether the BC button issue will be fixed by this version or not, but at least the iDrive music display always goes to the top of the list and single song repeating issues are fixed. Also feel the gear switching is a little smoother (especially for 1st to 2nd gear). My original version was 11/2018.45

So after some investigation, it appears as if BMW rolls out the updates staggered as they can't data dump over the air updates all at once. Your X5 should receive it shortly. |

Unless yours is the first one to receive an OTA update, that is not correct. All updates must be done by the dealer. The X5 is capable of OTA updates but none have been released or planned yet that we know of.
