I have thought long and hard about this... also sought legal advice (my firms lawyer sits 2 seats down from me )

my consumer rights are not effected, so in essence i can reject the car again on the same basis.

God knows what i would get though, i have only ever owned BMW's since 17 (when i passed my test); i now own SUV's for the higher seating position due to back problems for the longer drives (such as driving into the west end on a daily basis)

i do not like any other SUV on the market enough to buy... would be a very tough call to make....

as your dealer said "fingers x'd"

Honestly, it bothers my wife more than me as she noticed right away at delivery. She's read this whole thread and just decided to "live with it" They're more wrinkly but at least her G05 seats are more comfortable than my G30's Nappa luxury seats.

Since they can produce seats without wrinkles in the other model vehicles why would these be different? To me it doesn't make sense to think they will save a few pennies on their newest models by allowing the supplier to put wrinkles in the seats. In the end you may be correct but at this point it seems logic is not on your side of the argument.
I mention front seats because design of front should be same as rear. I know of no other vehicle that differs (intentionally) front to rear. BMW produces smooth leather in other vehicles because other vehicles are not using Magna. My understanding is Magna is used only in Spartanburg, and we see the result.
Ruching (done properly and consistently) is a more difficult sewing technique, especially on heavier fabrics. And more costly because it is slower and uses more material. BMW was not looking to add costs, but to reduce costs. Ruching is not unique. It's been used on many vehicles...attached is photo on older CR-V using this technique. It's consistent front to rear, side to side, and in its designed location. Some examples I've seen (no, not all) are unacceptable.
We all have our opinions, and what we consider acceptable. My opinion is that this situation is remarkably unacceptable.

They're not as bad as yours were but close IMHO

My G30 nappa seats are smooth as butter. They're also more firm and not as comfortable.

I would rather they be firm and perfect like my wife’s MY18 540i then have seats with those wrinkles. This issue makes BMW look really bad.I am surprised that they have allowed X5’s to be delivered for this long with this issue.

Do we have data from recent deliveries (recent production date)? I thought they are getting more tolerable recently.

Ours was just delivered last week (week 6 production) so still about the same. It's truly random

X7 seats, some improvements but still a C grade for me

For those interested created a similar thread in the X7 forum to contrast deliveries —-> https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1590006

That is still totally unacceptable for a vehicle that costs as much as an X5 or X7.

After devouring this forum as I waited for my M40i to come off the production line, I grew more concerned each day that my seats would be wrinkled. I lucked out, big time.
Thanks for the search tip HollyM. Now I recall why this was news for the g01. I found only 2 entries and 1 pic showing barely a wrinkle, certainly nothing in comparison to what some of the g05 folks are experiencing.

Sorry to g05 folks though, some of those pics are brutal to be sure.

Not sure if anyone has noticed this but they're crediting back Vernasca leather on the window stickers now. If you cruise through cars.com and look at the new cars various specs, a lot of them have either "leather upholstery credit" or the actual window sticker shown with the -$1450. Assuming they're doing this now because of this issue. Also noticed that the SensaTec has no issues...maybe this has been brought up.

what you have posted is pure gold!

for peeps who are genuinely dis satisfied and do not want to go down the route of car rejection, surely it would be easier to approach dealer and BMW Cust Serv, with this and say i will take the car, will live with the seats (not desirable); but i want a full refund on the seats.... i think this would potentially get a few of you "cash back"....

This credit is old news and not related to wrinkle issue. For cars with production date of up to 11/18 they gave this credit because sensa-tec seats were not available to order so this was given to compensate. Any X5 built on or after 12/18 doesn't get that credit.

Same for the Belgian configurator... no more rear seats shown

so that's what BMW is now attempting?
no reference anymore to complaint afterwards upon delivery

I wouldn't worry about configurators showing rear seats or not. They are still there albeit in a typically s*it BMW view. There are plenty of pics on the web that can be found on how the seats should look!

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...8;d=1537670620

My personal view will be if my car arrives with seats that look wrinkly and therefore effectively used I'll be seeking some sort of rectification. If it's really bad I'll reject the car, if it's ok but not perfect then I'll accept the car subject to seeking some sort of compensation eg refund of comfort pack, ivory merino leather cost and remediation of the seats or if it's good then I drive away happy.

Nobody should be forced to handover cash for a car and not be happy. It's all down to personal preference. Some of the pics I've seen are shocking and should never have left the factory, some look liveable and some look perfect eg on the launch vids and pics shown above.
