- Went to dealer for that early recall and update to 8.5 - CEL came on twice afterwards but went away by themselves; didn't go to dealer - No more CEL since latest software update - 4k miles |

Whether or not you have had an issue with your 50e Yes If you had an issue(s), what was it CELs: Dealer twice replaced expansion valves for the high-voltage battery, replaced gasket rings, and evacuated and filled AC system. (Separately, I also had the high-voltage and drivetrain error messages, but they cleared on their own after a restart and have not reappeared.) If you had an issue(s), did you go to the dealer. Yes, but only for relatively short stays, compared to others: Overnight once and three days the second time. I almost hate to type this because I don't want to jinx anything, but I've been problem-free since the last valve was replaced, almost three months ago.

Just over 4000 miles, started receiving messages, drivetrain malfunction, high voltage battery system malfunction and black screen on infotainment At the dealership for 3 weeks the first time. They found multiple faults. Software updates, latest 11/2023.42. Home for a few days and more messages. Has been back at the dealer for another 3 weeks so far. They are waiting for parts. The dealer, Gebhardt BMW, has been fantastic and I always have a loaner |

Joined the forum prior to getting the 50e
- I actually had ordered a 40i prior joining - Due to the information here I backed out of the 40i and ordered 50e (even so at this time first reports of CEL, Drive Train have been reported) Ordered June - didn't get first 50e due to 2 Stop Sales New allocation - got 50e end of August 1. Yes, minor 2. High-Voltage and Drivetrain message - called Roadside assistance - remote diagnose - couldn't find anything serious - lights went away after sleep of the car (3+ hours?) 3. No 8700 Miles and has not seen dealer yet. |

Rolled off the assembly line on 20 Nov 2023, and took delivery on 25 Nov This is my first BMW. Currently have 1900 miles on it, zero issues to date. Best initial new car build quality I’ve experienced in years — compared to a 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid, 2020 Mercedes GLE 350, 2022 Honda Pilot, 2023 Tesla Model Y. |

Before (although unofficially)
550 miles no issues (fingers and toes crossed) picked up Dec 23 (Dec build). Appreciate you trying to collect this data. But the other curiosity I have had reading all of these CEL posts is finding out how everyone with an issue was charging - level 2 of some sort? Mixed level 1 / level 2? Only ever level 1 with supplied BMW charger? I’m not an electrical engineer but the battery is what obviously differentiates this model and higher-current charging could certainly impact hardware if there is a design flaw in either the hw or sw... |

Whether or not you have had an issue with your 50e. - yes.
If you had an issue(s), what was it - 2 factory build issues & CEL for HV system. If you had an issue(s), did you go to the dealer. - Yes, they took care of it and no CEL since (knock on wood) |

Joined after purchase but before any issues. Took delivery in early May.
Felt it. had excessive road noise but solved with change of tires and installation of vibration dampeners. Pirelli's to Michelins. Took to dealer they stated that's "just the way it is". Tire change at Discount tire. Dampeners self installed. CEL at around 2500 miles for High Voltage Battery valve issue. Dealer fixed...3 weeks CEL again around 7500 miles for Electronic power steering module failure. Dealer fixed....4 weeks CEL for communication error around 9000 miles. This was reset at dealer and so far has no come back on. Despite above, still love the car. Look forward to driving it everyday. |

- Fineline Stripe brown inlay from the center console had some bubbles and imperfections in it. Dealer replaced it under warranty. - Ambient air and ionisator doesn't work. Is a known software issue for all 50e from production date in April 2023 with this option. Dealer told me they expect "hopefully" a software fix for this by April 2024. I made a thread about this issue. This is a year after production and this for a paid option... I haven't got any issues yet that others complain about, no CEL, drivetrain, noise issue, ... My 45e had much more issues the first year. |

Joined before buying my 50e. Mine is a December 2023 build with about 2500 miles so far. I've not had the CEL and have not been to the dealership *crosses fingers/toes and knocks on wood*. But I really hope BMW engineers a solution for this because every time I turn on the car, I pray the light goes off after it runs its checks.
