The last time I looked, the part numbers are different for ACC vs non-ACC master brake.

Doesn't show that on the docs. Couldn't imagine why they would have to be different.

I finally got a confirmation from the dealer that you cannot add acc or driver assistance plus through driver connect. You have to order it from the factory with the build.

Thanks for the update and I'm glad your dealer took the time to actually look into the situation. Can you let me know what dealer it was? Just guessing - Gebhardt?

BMW or Downtown Denver over on Colorado north of 25.

Schomp had said the same thing but with less research. So I wanted to confirm. Denver actually dug in for me.

Thanks. I rarely hear anything good about Gebhardt so was thinking it was them to begin with.

Hopefully Comma OpenPilot will roll out ACC support for Flexray BMW.

If OpenPilot Comma does not support BMW yet, doesnt Bosch manufacture all the ACC hardware for most automakers?

For the X5 series, there is no option to even add ACC from factory for 40i, 50e, M60i, correct? “Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go” (ACC) is only available on the X5M as part of the DAP package. I have seen some say that DAP means you get ACC included but I don’t believe there is any active cruise control adjusting with the non-X5M DAP, as evidenced by this being listed as a separate option only under the X5M. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

No, that is not correct. ACC is part of the DAP package for all of the models.

Why is it listed separately under the X5M DAP only and not others then? And what’s up with the delete after 8 years feature?

X5M gets a lesser version of ACC that you can do hand off only 40 while all other model 85.

No one knows what happens after 8 years

Different model, different options, different marketing, etc. ACC is not deleted after 8 years, that statement is referring to Highway Assistant which is hands-free up to 85mph. That is a legal statement at this point and, as mentioned above, anything can happen at that time period.

For clarity, ACC does not have a hands-free option that would either be Highway Assistant or Traffic Jam Assistant both of which is referred to Cruise Mode 3/Assisted Driving Plus. ACC is cruise modes one (Cruise with Distance Control) and two (Cruise with Steering Assistance/Assisted Driving). The distinction really isn't important anymore since ACC is not a separate option like it was in the past.

Offering activation of DAP after delivery could have been an interesting way to keep the 50e under $80k MSRP to get the $3,750 tax credit, then load it up a little more afterwards.

But only if it's a flat fee and not a dreaded micro-subscription.

But no ACC without the DAP? With the radar already in there it should just be standard like much lesser priced cars are.

The radar is not on the vehicle unless DAP is ordered.

Hah, I meant radar cap! Thanks for the info. A lot of unnecessary features that could cause expensive repairs down the road, or not work given inclement weather, are in the DAP in my opinion.

In my, and many others, opinion DAP is a must have feature. I certainly would never buy a vehicle again if it didn't have it. It not only makes driving much more relaxed and less fatigued but also safer.

What is the difference between the standard “Active Cruise Control” and the DAP exclusive “Adaptive Cruise Control”? Is it just stop and go, meaning the car can automatically come to a full stop and then accelerate again? Does regular Active Cruise Control still maintain a set distance to a car in front of you? Thank you!

Active Cruise control is not standard, as mentioned above, the only way to get it (adaptive cruise) is to get the DAP package. The standard cruise control is Dynamic which is the normal/plain cruise control that can use braking to keep speed while going downhill.
