It can make a huge difference in fog and very heavy rain. Almost all other European made cars have rear fog in Canada - like Audi, Mercedes, Range Rover, Jaguar.... BMW is the only one who would inexplicably remove/disable it in Canada when all the hardware (apart from the switch) is already there. |

You don't even need rear lights by law in Canada (worryingly) - I'd be campaigning for that before I worried about having something as bright as the sun shining back at oncoming traffic. |

I’ve been behind pick up trucks where they had bright lights on where the third brake light should be and IMO it’s too distracting. I however think when it’s foggy out that the rear fog light may be of use however putting on rear fog lights for no reason maybe a distraction.

Etiquette in europe is to use them only when needed. If you are behind a car with them in heavy traffic, put your full beams on to 'remind' them to turn them off.
Rule is, if you can't see at 50m or so on the motorway, for spray or fog, turn them on, but make sure to turn them off as soon as you see a car behind you. |

Has there ever been an answer to this thread? I take delivery of my US spec 2020 X5 M50i in January 2020.... in Belgium.
Technically, I am legally required to have them. I've asked my dealer multiple times via email, and he consistently ignores me, most likely, because like most dealers, he knows very little about the actual car. My F30 (2016 340i) had them installed from the factory, and a simple modification to the US-spec switch, along with a simple coding procedure, had them operating perfectly. No new "parts" were required. It was always "there"... just deactivated for the US market. Is this the same for the G05?? |

Looks like many of the coding functions are back for those with the July update. I needed to change the volume display setting to ON and was able to do that with this release. I am using the Veepeak adapter.

I see very few options now. I'm on .53 and using a Veepeak adapter and an Android phone. I hope I don't need a new adapter.

I think the bimmercode update has only been released for some locations. I am in Australia and our last update for Android was mid October. If it has not been updated in your region, that may explain why only a few options are available. I am sure it wil roll out worldwide in coming days.

I saw the updated App today. Coded everything we once had before the software update with the exception of the tailgate button which is the one I was using on a regular basis.

Also oddly, my upgrade to 7.55 from 11.49 or something like that did not wipe out my coding on the tailgate.

Assuming you are talking about the button on door, that is a standard feature that has always been there. That said, there was a bug in a version of iDrive, perhaps .35, where it didn't work.

Now we just need the developer to be able to set the drive mode to Adaptive.

If Bimmercode would just add support for the BDC_BODY3 ECU, it would be even simpler 1min job in Expert Mode.
