Thanks for this review! This is the first interesting EV I've seen. Looks like Ex-BMW M head is still working his magic at Hyundai.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Meh, fake DCT is more enjoyable than fart noises IMO. The Ioniq 5N might perform but it's still a porky SUV. The super fast charging seems like it would shorten the lifespan considerably as well, further driving down the depreciation (yet to be proven). I know they are intentionally keeping short production runs to try to balance this..
Still waiting on better, lighter battery tech to finally be released before EVs are even considered personally. Feels like solid state or whatever new tech has been just around the corner for a decade already. |

Yeah, I know what you mean. But why not have the ev's seamless power and just play a computer game while you drive or something? It's adding needless driver input and slowing the car down...I just don't see the point! I enjoy changing gear, but only because it's necessary for my car.

First, Hyundai is not what it used to be and they do have their own $100k luxury sedan that is very reliable, great build and great looking. And second, modern Porsche has as much, if not even more plastics in them today... But comparing a 10-year old used true sport car (911) with a brand new, latest technology, semi-SUV, Korean EV with $0 out of pocket cost next X years plus their long drivetrain warranty makes no sense... |

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2014-porsche-911-carrera-4s-coupe-11/ Plenty of others out there. Do 911’s suddenly explode at 50k miles now? That car is a giant pile of plastic and screens with a battery for $69k. They’re going to have to sell these for $20k off within a year to have a chance of moving them. I am comparing what you can get for similar money. If you’d rather be driving this electric POS instead of a 911, ok then. They are marketing this car to the enthusiastic crowd, which means they have to compete in that space for the same dollars. |

I’d rather be driving any Porsche but would not go into a 12yo sports car that was most likely driven like one for 50k+ miles. I am not into EVs at all and this simulation thing does not get me excited at all either. If someone gave me the choice to grab this EV or a 12yo 911 for free, I’d take the 911. If someone offered me the choice between the two for $65k, I would not take the 911 |

The point is they are playing in the luxury/high end car segment at this price point and that’s an incredibly tough sell. For people that can afford a $70k car and want something fun to drive, what is compelling about this over all of the other options? The awful range is a major issue. Cool car for $40k (which is what they’ll sell for next year). Terrible car for $70k. |

I4 M50 starts at $70k, easily adds up to 90k Does the BMW badge make it worth $20k+ over this? Why? |

Range becomes irrelevant if you can charge faster. I have heard that latest Polestar can charge to 80% in 10 minutes. |

Anyone that doesn't think there's plastic on that old porsche is dumb.

And Hyundai looks cooler than Model 3 that looked the same last 10 years, it has more room than the 3... And then you have the i4, i5, Rivians, and plenty of other boring, plastic filled EVs that sell for wayyyy over $60k |
