Mine is closed most of the time due to how hot it is here in the summer. The other thing about the sky lounge roof is the lights could be brighter, and as a driver you don’t get to enjoy it. It’s really for your rear passengers. Would I get it again probably as it’s part of the executive package and I would definitely get that again.

I have sky lounge as part of exe package. I will NOT have bought it if stand alone. It is led on the edge of the roof, and etching on the glass. That’s it. No led in the glass. It is more is a wow factor for the first time occupants at night. . After that, they forget about it because it doesn’t do anything else. Even my kids ignore it by now.

Personally, I will take a car without sun roof at all for practicality. Simpler, lighter weight up height, no chance of leaking.

Oh yes, we totally forgot to mention the weight. Extra 80 kgs in the roof? That’s not what you want in a vehicle which is already prone to lean to the sides quite a bit

If you guys didn’t have your steering wheel on the wrong side, I’d love to have one of your cars without the sunroof 🤣🤣

Love the picture of the roof with all alacantara!

I think the panoramic sunroof does look nice and adds a touch of luxury, at least for those who aren't the driver and who can more fully appreciate it when in the car.

My issue is related to the difficulty finding an A/C setting that works for me, as was brought up in another recent thread. I feel like I'm constantly adjusting between trying to keep the cabin cool and finding a fan speed that doesn't cause me to have to turn up the volume on the radio, or turn down the fan speed when I'm on a call. So I typically keep the sunroof screen closed most of the year to try to keep the cabin cooler -- and then just forget to open it when I'm driving at night.

What am I missing that makes people say this? If anything I find the pano roof is more useful for the front passengers since that's the only part that actually opens.

The pano roof in my E70 was more useful for rear passengers because the rear portion could actually be vented and not just a fixed piece of glass.

They are not talking about the pano roof, they are referring to the lighting in the roof

Love, love, love it. Adds so much ambiance at night. Easy to avoid if you are worried about cost, heat, or failures. You may hate the non-alacandra (etc) cover). I won't argue against that. Unneeded opulence. (But i love it).

Pano Roof or Travel Comfort System

Amazing Photos. I am currently deciding between a new order X5 or an in stock X5 with pano roof.

On the new order I had specc'd travel and comfort system. Can you confirm if this is what you have fitted to the rear of your seats? Is it good? Would you choose travel and comfort system over pano roof?

Thanks

If you missed out on getting the sky lounge, you could go the Micky Mouse way and get this . https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K5LSJCC?

Admittedly the roof lights are probably only exciting if you're sitting in back. If you're in the front seat you can't see them unless you turn your head around.

Yeah we thought the sky lounge would be so awesome and it is if you’re sitting in the back and a little from the passenger seat but other than that they’re a disappointment for myself cause I can’t enjoy them while I drive. 😔

If I end up ordering another x5 I think I’ll skip it if I don’t need anything else from the package their bundled in.

Yeah although there's a decent chance I would get it again the premium package doesn't actually have much useful important stuff. Why is a heated steering wheel not part of that package for instance? Or why can't you buy a heated steering wheel on its own without having to spend $1,000 on the climate package that includes stuff I will never use like rear seat stuff

I have the OEM Rear Entertainment Screes in my fully optioned 2020 X7M50i when you could get a truly fully loaded BMW.. That premium option isn’t currently available. I think it has returned to an option to some ALPINA builds???? A lot of the premium big ticket options are still currently not available.

Here's ours. Love it and take full advantage of it since we drive a lot at night. Pairs really well with the B&W.
