Finally I was able to see the Extended TJA getting activated in my G05

Here are the snapshots for the folks on this Forum
1. Shows the message that Assist Plus is ready. [there was also a message on iDrive screen about Assist Plus requirements]
2. I am able to select the third option Assist Plus via "Mode" button
3. After selecting the Assist Plus, the green lights on the steering wheels light up indicating the car is in fully automated drive mode..

Can you provide me with the coding date for the eTJA. My vehicle has the 5AU - Traffic Assistant Professional, 5AR - Traffic Congestion Assistant, and 5DN - Parking Assistance System Plus. Does this give me the enhanced TJA?

Thanks

Yes, 5AR is Extended Traffic Jam Assistant.

Finally after 2 weeks of owning the car got chance to try extended traffic jam assist. Got stuck in Santa Monica traffic and the third option of ETJA came on. It worked flawlessly like it's designed to. No need to touch the steering wheel. Loved it! The only complain is it disengages as soon as car starts driving over 40mph. Even in extended traffic jam there are small pockets where car can go a over 40mph for few seconds before it hits the stop again and unfortunately ETJA disengages then it gives options to reactivate again at the stop traffic. That was little annoying. Also, the warning beep of disengagement of ETJA is not loud enough if you are listening to music even at the normal volume. It should be as loud as the beep you hear in normal driving assist mode when it wants to disengage with red warning light When we don't touch the car's steering wheel for more than 15 seconds. But, love the overall technology. I think its more smoother than Tesla that I drove once.

You can set the speed to 40 MPH so you don't get out of speed range in between pockets.

And probably piss off a lot of people when you drive 40 and the flow is up to 55.

I have a November build with Driver Assistant Plus package with active driving assistant pro, however have never seen the ETJA assist that you're referring to, is that something that can be coded to the earlier builds or was there additional hardware added in December to make it possible? Currently on the July .49 release of iDrive, thanks

It might be possible to code it.

Do you have coding capability - esysx or Launcher Pro? There are 2 codes in 2 distinct ECU to code. Alternatively you could VO Code 5AR on the 2 specific ECU's, which does not require purchasing either esysx or LP.

I assume you option 5AU but not 5AR on your car?

You have the Driver Assistance Plus package so you don't have the ability to have the ETJA since the cameras are different.

Edit: After looking at it further, you may have the cameras that are needed. I thought I read last year there was a changed in cameras, perhaps that was referring to the one in the IC, do you have one of them?

I 'think' the hardware is the same, just that the i-step coding didn't support 5AR upon release so they didn't offer it.

In theory adding 5AR to FA and VO Coding SAS and HU_MGU should enable it, and it should work in a supported region e.g. US.

If the poster only has 5AS they may be out of luck.

Correct I have the 5AU cameras (but not 5AR) and no I'm not coding yet, but figured if it's only a coding and not a camera hardware difference it might be something I'd consider (or hire someone) then again would rather error on the side of caution if the cars hardware would not safely support the changes. The graphic Turtle Boy shared shows the cameras I have, plus drivers eye attention camera, seems to have all the features...but it was a production change in December so what was actually changed or added; seems like BMW would have already updated the earlier builds if it was "safe" to do so, right? thanks.

Yes, it just did the eTJA while driving home. I encountered lots of traffic on the highway and it changed to it.

In that case it should simply be add 5AR to your FA, and VO Code SAS2 and HU_MGU and done.

All eTJA does is stop the HOD in the steering wheel from activating below 40mph. You already have all the ACC and Steering Wheel assist capabilities working every-time you activate the Assisted Driving.

Maybe tangential, but observing my car, I don't think that is quite all it does functionally. It seems to me that in eTJA, the driver attention camera is way more strict than just TJA. For me, in eTJA, a slight glance away for 1-2 seconds reliably triggers warnings regardless of hands on steering wheel, but in just TJA, I have not yet been able to trigger warnings at all when looking away. 03/2019.45

You are right. One of the 5AR codes is to activate the 'Lane keep assistant driver camera system', but doesn't need any additional hardware beyond 5AU.

I have esys and launcher pro and I want to be able to enable TJA on all roads and not only highways. Can anyone tell me what I need to code?

Not possible. eTJA will only work on highways that meet certain criteria. Coding can't change that.

I found these posted somewhere:

ICM/3000/C_STA_Einschraenkung - set to "keine Einschränkung" to make it work on all roads
ICM/3000/CQalcRel_v_Tacho_akitv_kmh - set to the max speed you want in hex - I used 0x63 = 99 kmh - because higher values cause the display to show funny characters when the function gets enabled.

the problem is I cannot find ICM?

There is a code, but I'm not sure if works or not.

SAS / C_NHA_Spurwechsel_Strassentyp --> set to "Alle Strassen"

I have not coded this - so code at your own risk!!

The ICM codes do not work, they are not for the G05, they are for the G30.

NHA is No Halt Assistant, which stops the car, pulls to the kerb (in some countries) and calls the emergency services, if the driver becomes unresponsive or you pull back on the emergency hand brake.

Nothing to do with TJA. That code just allows it to work on all road types instead of just highways.

I just answered this - they don't exist on a G05.

Even if there were G05 codes for completely hands free driving on any road at any speed, I wouldn't share them.
