Mine was $1099 a month ago.

I also got these and tested all three. Went with the M (Medium)version also. A solid sound profile though I don’t listen to EDM myself. More rock/country/classical and works for them too. BTW, Bimmertech after sale support is really solid.

Cool, I will try them tomorrow. I am using the default right now. Definitely louder and more full sound.

Also have my Focal sub replacements arriving tomorrow. I will be all focal inside speakers with the Bimmertech amp.

That’s good to know, as I haven’t tried rock and country yet which is more my style. This is my wife’s daily driver and she is all EDM. She could tell the difference a big difference in this tune.

Got mine all installed and fully focal speakers now. The blinkers were super loud, so I took the amp back out and adjusted the gain down. It was all the way up, now I have it at about 50%. Still tons of volume and fullness gain.

Anyone else have troubles with the driver failing to install? Just says "Install Failed". Without this I can load the new file we were talking about above.

I didn't have a problem installing the driver. I used the 1.4.0.0 drivers under Additional Downloads at the bottom of the page.

After reading up on setting gains on amps, I set mine up by setting the volume on the headunit to 90% and then adjusting the gain on the bimmer-tech amp until the clipping light didn't blink. I used the KEY500.1-Gain-Match-0dB test tone from Kicker. This will limit how loud your music can be, but it wont clip/distort. I think it gets loud enough for me.

I replaced all of the hifi speakers/subs with Focal and added a powered 400w JL Sub. I do wonder how this setup compares to a Bowers & Wilkins system.

They have other test tones on the page like the KEY500.1-Gain-Match--5dB that let you have more volume output, but you introduce some clipping depending what is playing.

Thanks for everyone’s feedback on installing speakers/amp/subs. I’m looking to replace my HiFi system with either BAVsound or Bimmertech speakers and had my local BMW shop give me an estimate for install-$1400 for just the labor! Clearly I will either need to find another shop or find courage to do this myself.

Bimmer Tech Amp install- RAM Module

I'm starting this install on Saturday. After the RAM module is disconnected, does it just hang there after the amp and bracket is attached via the supplied bracket? Thanks

I had a local shop in Richmond va pull out the hk and replace with bavsound. He charged me $400. That was just the mids and highs, no amp or subs.

There's so much info here it's hard to find where you guys have upgraded the hk amp/subs. For the people who have, what did you upgrade to? How much better is it? Is there a link to where this discussion was had?

I have no problem finding the discussion where people are upgrading from the base system but that does me no good….any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 2021 X5 (G05) xDrive 40i with the standard hi fi stereo and the sound was very, very bad. So I purchased the Bimmer Tech Alpha 1 Amp and speakers (minus the subs). I installed the amp myself 2 days ago. The sound is much better, even with just the factory speakers. Is it as good as my 2012 Honda Accord with Audison Bit 1 DSP, JL Audio amps (2) and sub, Focal and Gallo speakers, and pro tune? No. But I wanted plug and play for the BMW. Too much electronics, computers, etc. in my Bimmer to f*k around with cutting and soldering for me. To each his own. It's a compromise, I know. I much prefer the custom audio sound, but I'm not willing to f*k up my ride in the process.

Actually, not quite. The RAM stays on its original bracket. The amp gets attached to the Bimmer Tech-supplied bracket. Both brackets (with attached RAM and amp) get bolted to the car using the original 3 attachment points for the RAM bracket, plus one additional point on the amp bracket. It's a tight space and the trick was to hold up both brackets with one hand while getting that first bolt in. Once the amp and bracket go in, you can only see one of the 1st 3 holes, so it's by feel. It's doable, but difficult for an amateur like me. I filmed it and plan to do a You tube video of the whole installation eventually.

Definitely do it yourself, somebody who knows what they are doing can do it in 3-4 hours max and that would include replacing all speakers and the amps.

You would need to get the Match UP 10DSP amp and the 1.9RAM harness.

Have the base hifi system and thinking about doing the amp upgrade. I’ve built/upgraded my own computer, but the install video makes it seem pretty intimidating due to the small space / no room for error…
