So why do you think BMW would drop such a feature from a car with this price tag?
Nowadays, even 30k eur Skodas can have adaptive lightbeams, at least as an option.
Maybe has something to do with the fact that the LED headlight is better and can activate/deactivate some LED units to illuminate selectively towards where you are directing your steering wheel?
Anyways, in my 50e order sheet shows: ADAPTIVE LED HEADLIGHTS, don't know what it refers to then.

Mine is an LCI, they didn't make the M60i pre LCI.

Oh sorry thought you said yours is a 2023
M50i?

Anyway, would be interesting if you have m60i with blue if you have m-shadowline headlight. It must be a wrong part installed.

It refers to the lights being able to move up and down. That could be why or maybe it is this:

Well in my opinion there are two separate things:

1) BMW drop laser light in favor or LED - I think this is fine, seems a few manufacturers also considered laser light to be obselete technology as LED technology advance with better performance and reliability over time. This is fine to me.

2) BMW drop car ability or reduce functionality of adapting light to situation, presumably to save cost of manufacturing or certification expense for compliance - I hate to see this.

I had a 2023 M50i but now have a 2024 M60i.

I doubt it is the wrong part maybe the lights are different in US and UK, it is only a small blue part will try and get a photo.

Garage List
2024 X5 M60i  [10.00]
In the shadow line trim, there’s a tiny bit of blue plastic on the side of the light clusters. Even on the more inner one, barely visible. You could cover it with your fingertip, it’s so small

Some of the branding terminology is confusing me. I have the “base” xDrive 40i. I have the small blue plastic inside the headlight housing (1). My LEDs have a separate lamp on the inside housing, near the grill, that noticibly illuminates the roadway to the side the steering wheel is turning (2).

1. What is this called and what is its function?

2. What is this feature called?

That is the cornering light. It is activated at very slow speeds when making a sharp turn. By Adaptive, we are referring to the headlights moving with the steering wheel when driving at speeds.
