If 2019 X5 is being delivered so late (closer to 2020 model) it's already depreciated in value. Would dealer or BMW NA offer an incentive for this delay, not sure if folks have run into this in the past ? |

spoke on the phone with BMW cust service yesterday.. they not willing to do anything to compensate for the delays or drop in resale value. And my car build week delayed from week 10 to week 14 and now week 16. If dealer is not willing to give me loaner to deal with delays.. I will likely cancel my order.
I also had opportunity to see X5 with 3rd row and X7 side by side today... 3rd row option on X5 is only good because you get Air suspension and power rear seats for $1300. other than that.. 3rd row seat is completely useless. I am 5'8 and I could not sit on the back row without biting my knees. which is stupid, because there was plenty of space between first and second row seats, but second row does not move forward enough to create more space for everybody. I doubt even if my 11 year old would be comfortable in 3rd row and I cant have my small one there, because there are no LATCH in 3rd row on X5. WTF BMW.. who the heck engineered this?? my take..its worse than previous generation X5. X7, all the extra space is added to 3rd row leg room. trunk space is the same as X5. I have to admit that GLS is much better choice if you want usable 3rd row seat and some reasonable luggage space. decisions decisions.. perhaps its time to give Mercedes another close look I do love how X5 drives though.. |

I am sorry but I think dealer will not give you a loaner for this. Good luck. |

Bloomfield. They did tell me about delays.. but week 10 build was acceptable to be. week 16 is adding month and a half. and fundamentally, seeing one with 3rd row in person, makes me question the logic of getting one in the first place.

The third row is usable but not comfortable. It's not like the back of a 911 or a TT and also works better if you lower the middle section (so knees can poke through) If you need in any more than 25% of the time then get an X7. But if you need occasionally then you get a faster, better handling, better looking (IMO) and cheaper vehicle with an X5.
I do agree that the lack of Isofix is a real missed opportunity as surely that is the logical place for a child's seat?! |

Ugh. Just got off the phone with the Genius. My order with the 3rd row that was originally scheduled for week 10, is now at week 19! Last time I had checked a few weeks ago, I was told week 14. That's a whole 5 weeks more.
I wonder what the problem is. The Genius couldn't tell me. I'd really like the hybrid version, but that means I'd have to wait at least another year. Decision time. |

We just placed our order last weekend (2/23). I just spoke to the Genius and we are scheduled for week 11! I expected much later, especially after hearing others got moved. (I don't mean to anger anyone.)

My dealer confirmed with me this morning after I spoke to the Genius that they received notice from BMW today that they are having a supply issue with the 3rd row seats. That's why the build week keeps getting pushed out.
The leak about the hybrid coming earlier than anticipated is intriguing. I wonder how accurate these leaks have been in the past. I also wonder what will happen to my build week if I delete the 3rd row option. Will my build week return to week 10? Will it be given priority over other orders since my it was placed 2/6? |

Spoke to BMW Genius today again.
The rep confirmed that my production was pushed from week 6 to week 10 and was then pushed to week 14. He then confirmed that most X5s with 3rd row were pushed back due to vendor supply issues with 3rd row seat and BMW is not taking any new orders with 3rd row. On my request for compensating for this unusual delay, he asked me to call BMW Customer Relation. |

3rd row on the X5 was made mute with the X7. At best the 3rd row in the X5 are jump seats like the what the M850i. If you have to use the 3rd row in the X5 more than a few times a year, you need a X7. No way getting around that space issue.

I checked out X5 and X7, both with 3rd row seats side by side. my personal conclusion.. X7 sucks. Space for 3rd row seats is good, but trunk space is no larger than X5 with 3rd row seat up. I would chose GLS450 if I really need usable 3rd row + some trunk space.
also, my dealer called me today and told me that X5 with 3rd row is completely discontinued. Whatta bull crap.. |

That’s the “we don’t want want the X5 to take away from the X7 sales and complicate our inventory”. My gut says the X7 will not be nearly as popular as the legendary X5. Not a lot of buyers need large people haulers all the time. Most will buy a new Dodge Mini Van for $24k and not worry about the dog or baby throwing up in a $100k BMW. |

Just following this thread as I've also placed an order with the 3rd row seating.
Placed the ordered on 2/16 with a deliver date of 3/16. Last week I was told it will be another 3 weeks additional, which puts us at 4/6. With all i've read, doesnt sound like my 4/6 date is promising. |

I think most people that ordered the 3rd row/air suspension just wanted the air suspension, I certainly did. From videos, photos and what was posted, everyone knows or should know the expectation of the 3rd row seating.

My dealer also confirmed with me today that the model with the 3rd row has been discontinued.
I'm ordering the the air with IAS instead. In many ways I'm happy that it was delayed because other owners on this forum have since convinced me that IAS is terrific and it gave me time to change my order. |
