No. I spoke with them late yesterday. They put her back together, did two test drives. They wanted to do another this morning to get a drive cycle? complete. I'm hoping for this afternoon.

Tomorrow is the day. It was ready this afternoon but I had to leave work early so I’ll get in the morning. I actually feel more comfortable as the dealer is a few miles from work. If I got it today, I’d be jumping right on the highway. I’d rather do some local driving first. I can’t wait. Entrance ramps haven’t been the same for quite a few weeks. Damn body roll.

The world is right again, she's back where she belongs. So far, so good. I thought all my settings would be gone but the only thing I had to reset was the sync on the A/C.

One problem - my muscle memory. After driving loaners with the normal up down shifter, I keep forgetting drive is to the right and reverse is left and up.

The valet kid actually asked me "What are you doing with this kind of car?" I wanted to slap him. I told him "Driving it the way it's meant to be driven. I may look like an old lady, don't let it fool you."

Hopefully that's the last time you have to take that car in for anything other than routine maintenance.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Give BMWNA a call and ask to open a case with the goal of starting a buyback. It would help to get your service manager/director on board and advocating for you.

Also make sue you familiarize yourself with your states Lemon Law so you can gather the pertinent information needed to show you qualify.

Thanks all. I'm beside myself. I'm definitely going to pursue a buyback. I'm not waiting for lemon law stuff. I don't care what the issue is, I don't feel safe driving it. I am so lucky that both my meltdowns happened on the local roads. I was 2 minutes away from being on the highway this morning. That would have been really, really bad.

I just got back from the dealer with a brand new X5 loaner. I will speak with my sales guy to see how I need to proceed. Not sure if they start the process and can do at the dealer level or if I go to BMW.

I am hopeful. I have been doing business with this dealer for over 20 years. Between my brother and I we have leased probably 20 cars from them. They bought back a 7 from my brother a while back. I hope they will take care of it and I don't have to look for ways to escalate, but I will contact you if necessary. Thank you.

Sooo, SA just called. He said that a bolt to the drive shaft got elongated after the previous repair and pretty much broke off. It scratched/damaged the heat panels. They have to replace the Giubo. Parts are due in tomorrow and it should be ready by Friday. I don't know if I care.

EDIT - Cross posting here. I asked my buddies in the OT forum. Would love your thoughts too on whether I take it back and see or if I should still pursue getting out of the lease?

How does a bolt to the drive shaft get elongated and break off? Seems like a tech error in the previous repair. I would talk to your sales guy and still pursue a buyback. If you've been doing business with them for this long, they should help you out.
This is so unfortunate and I give you props for being patient with all these repairs. I really hope things get better after this repair.
