Yes it's crazy. This is around our 40 or 41st BMW. I think 3/4 of those were new. The fastest order to delivery was 8 DAYS!!!! It was for my 2013 E70 35d. It was the very last run of them in June so I suppose they had things streamlined and at the same time my dealer had one in very late status 112.

Ordered 4pm and must have put the order in immediately then began production.

It is only about 9hours from Greer to South Florida. So if you get loaded on to a carrier that is filled quickly, then it's almost same day that it arrives at the dealer.

My 45e status is moving again. Production Begins can be a long wait, about 12 days in my case but it lines up with the info I received from genius.

The status moved overnight to "Entering Assembly Line", skipping "Exterior Body Assembly Begins" and "In The Paint Booth". My dealer is just under 9 hours from Greer so maybe this will come in next week?

I would say a week after production completed is safe. If you are in a region with high volume, I would think trucks fill faster. But I don't know the shipping logistics of loading cars on trucks.

Some trucks have entire loads just for my dealer and some had cars split between 3 dealers all about 2 hours apart.

I wouldn't say high volume area but not low either. We have 12 dealers within 90 minutes drive of my location so I can't imagine it will take too long.

Mine has been in "Production Begins" for a week now — so sounds normal?

Yes, that is normal. Production begins means a VIN has been assigned and parts ordered/allocated and not that assembly has begun. Once that starts the steps should go by very quickly.

Give Genius a call and they can give you your production week.

Update:
Last Week Aug 6, BMW Genius told me that the car is expected to be at the dealership by Aug 9. I called Genius on Aug 9, and the status was still "Awaiting Carrier". Today Aug 10, MyBMW website shows "Dispatched from Factory", so I called Genius but he couldn't give an estimate about when it would reach the dealer. He said that the car is headed towards a "Processing Center" and then it would get delivered to the dealer. Is this normal? I thought that the BMW gets to the dealer directly from the SC factory.

I thought it depends on your location. For instance, for west coast deliveries, they are sent to a VPC by train, and then sent to the dealer by a truck.

I’m currently in Chicago, so I wasn’t sure about the train. The status now shows: “At the port”. Any idea what this means?

I believe (at least for west coast) that means the car has arrived at the VPC. You are probably going to get your car very soon!

Our build seems to have blown through quite a few more status changes in the last 12 or so hours. It was in "Entering Assembly Line" yesterday morning and this morning it's made it passed "Quality Check", "Final Assembly", and "Ready for Transport". It's now sitting in "Awaiting Carrier Assignment". Is now a good time to check in with genius for more details?

They may be able to give some info but are generally more useful prior. To assembly. Once it is in transport, contact your CA and they should be able to get you an ETA.

I hope you get it in time for your road trip. Fingers crossed. Mine got to the dealer Monday.

I'm not gonna lie. We have a problem and need a support group. My client advisor suggested we go to him for support. We always end up happy although I'm not sure that's how a support group works

Actual assembly only takes 26 hours. About 1-2 weeks before it will say production begins because parts, etc have been allocated for your build and things are "getting ready". If you go a day without checking the status it could jump to quality check or even dispatched

Thanks mate! Unfortunately, there was a delay due to the carrier getting switched at the last moment. Now it's at the VPC and is scheduled to arrive at the dealer on Monday. I can't cancel the road trip, so will take the 5-year-old Honda accord

Status hasn't moved today (no surprise) but I've been checking mdecoder and the BMW Driver's Guide app with the VIN daily to see when they would start working. Today, the day after the car went into "Awaiting Carrier Assignment", they started working. The only things I couldn't find that were ordered on mdecoder were two components of the Parking Assistance Package (ZX1 and ZX3). Perhaps this is normal?

ZPK - Parking Assistance Package
5DN - Parking Assistant Plus (FOUND)
6DR - Drive Recorder (FOUND)
ZX1 - Active Park Distance Control (MISSING)
ZX3 - Surround View w/ 3D ViewParking Assistant Plus includes Back-up Assistant. (MISSING)

I think it's normal. I have those packages on my car to be delivered and do not see the specifics you mentioned.
