I got a letter about this a week or so ago. I haven’t scheduled the service yet as I have been traveling.

Do you know if your dealer has parts available?

Anyone know if there has been a remedy sent out for the recall? Last week dealer said still nothing has been issued yet. Hoping soon as I'd like to pay the car off and cannot until the recall is fixed..

They do not. I took the car in for service yesterday for this recall, and was frustrated that they accepted the appointment but when I got there, I was told there are no parts available. They also told me that they do not know when parts will arrive, and that I should expect a letter from BMW directly to me when parts are available so that I can schedule a follow up. This doesn’t pass my sniff test.

Angry

Lucky me, looks like I'm one of the chosen ones by the BMW gods.

My X1 experienced an issue stemming from this recall. The following happened to me when I tried driving my X1 this past week:

- Parking break failure error / parking brake would not engage

- Break boost failure; upon applying the break I immediately felt a difference in breaking. It felt MUCH harder to get the car to a full stop, to the point I was worried the car might not stop in a few cases.

- All driver assistance systems not working/engaged

- Check engine light on

Had my X1 towed to the dealership as I didn't feel safe driving it. Dealership took a few days and I had to call for updates, and was finally told they confirmed the issue is related to the recall.

I was advised that they are trying to make a special request for BMW to release the parts from Germany. In the meantime, my car is deemed unsafe to drive and they can't release it to me (nor would I want to be driving it right now...)

I'm extremely pissed given my X1 is barely 1.5 years old. This has been my 3rd trip for a major service to the dealership since getting the vehicle, and there have been a total of 6, yes SIX!!! recalls since getting the vehicle.

I'm considering my next steps. Also currently waiting to hear back from the dealership about what loaner vehicle I can get. I was already told they're "out" of loaners and that I need to go through the Enterprise rep located at the dealer. Fun times

EDIT: Accidentally posted this in the X5 forum, but keeping here because thought you X5 owners might be interested in this data point.

There has been no recall until now, and the dealer’s reason is that there are no parts.
I'm a BMW X5 x40i owner from montreal.

I've been waiting several months now for this recall to be fixed on my 2024 X6. My SA says the parts are being distributed by region, and he doesn't know when he'll get the part. My new 2025 X5 is due to be built this week. So we have to assume they have the new part at the factory.

Yes they do. The last vehicle built with a bad part was last October.

Not sure if this only applies to X5, but my brand new X7 built June 2024 is affected.
Called the dealer - no parts.
Seems to be a huge issue with every X built recently

No, yours is not a part of the recall being discussed. Yours is part of the new recall.

Edit: BMW did not create a new recall but rather updated the existing recall. The NHTSA documents have not been updated yet so we don't know the details on the production dates.

When I was to pick up mine last year this time we had a stop sale for the air bags. It took about 2 weeks to fix and release for sale. Better to repair now rather than wait until you have already taken delivery.

I got what you are saying but still what a waste of excitement. Does anyone know how long it normally takes? I saw a lot of posts earlier saying lack of replacement..kind of worry that it's gonna be dragged for exptended period of time

Given the huge number of vehicles involved, the braking system recall may persist for quite a long time before all cleared up.

My 2025 X5 40i was built June 5, 2024 and I took delivery July 20, 2024.

I entered my VIN here and learned that my vehicle is included in the brake issue recall:

https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-and-emission-recalls.html

I have not yet received any notice from my dealer, nor BMW NA.

Funny but unrelated so sorry to take off topic. I was fixed on getting a Defender V8, ready to buy but there was some type of hold because of the oil filter holder/assembly? Decided to jump ship and somehow found the X5M. Went to dealer and they had one just delivered. My spec just missing the DAPP but knew I could live without that to be honest. Just dumb luck.

Moral: sometimes the hold order can be a good thing !!

Edit: my typing...

This is ridiculous honestly. We took delivery of our 2024 X5M Comp and we r looking to trade it in for a Range Rover sport now, we can’t pay off our lease bc of the recall and no dealer including the dealer I bought the car from will buy the car bc of the recall. I need a way to get out of this x5m, crazy I have to pay monthly on a car with a open recall which I can’t even sell. Is there anyway I can navigate this and get rid of my car?

I’m feeling a class action happening on this issue….
Mine says payoff can not be processed due to safety recall even after they’ve performed the recall service…. Seems as if they’re forcing people to staying their vehicles. This is an unfair business practice and I don’t see anything in the contract that states they can do this. Not saying that I want out now however I’ve got out my contracts early by trading/selling/transferring the lease so that I can get some thing else. This is getting interesting 🤨

My X5M had no recorded recall when I purchased it last month, and now the brake recall has shown up on BMW's website.

I made sure to check the recall website before I purchased the car as well -- any course of action I should take?

Yes, wait for your letter and get the part replaced.

I had service scheduled, a loaner scheduled, and a part confirmed. I showed up at the dealer this morning and was shocked to hear that the recall had been paused waiting on further info (plus they had no part?). I'm wondering if I was being gaslit? Has replacement of the impacted part really been paused?

They have stopped shipping parts for the recall remedy and are prioritizing them for sold vehicles stuck in the stop sale. The exception is for those vehicles exhibiting symptoms of the issue.
