I also am confirming that Apple didn’t fix shit. Idk why I got so excited thinking with so many BMWs out here they’d fix this quickly

I was assuming it was fixed since Berzerker said he didn't have the issue on 18.2 Beta. I wonder if the fix was taken out of the distribution version or if something else is in play. Hopefully he can update his to the general 18.2 distribution and see if the problem comes back for him.

Still no issue on 18.2 release. I really would check your notification settings as stuff I mentioned can be blocking them from coming up.

The settings should be fine. Highly unlikely that everyone happened to accidentally change their settings at the same time that 18.1 came out.

Are you sure yours is working like it is expected to? (Notification pop up on main iDrive homepage and clicking iDrive controller to read the message) If so, can you post all of your settings so we can check to see if something needs to be changed in order to work with 18.x.

Also for information, what version/sub version of iDrive are you running. Assuming of course you are on iD7.

Edit: The issue also exists on 8.5 so version likely is not a factor.

Do you have an iPhone 16? Because I updated to iOS 18 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iMessage notifications were still present. It’s only when I got the new iPhone 16 pro max is when the notifications stopped. So I can’t even say it’s a global issue across all iPhones running iOS 18.

And no all my settings are unchanged. So I should be getting iMessage notifications same as anyone else.

Was out of town for a few days but I actually noticed that it's no longer working for me on 18.2 release. I will say that it did work at least once though, so at this point I'm not sure if it's Apple or BMW's issue, though it did work for me on at least one 18.2 beta (was on beta 5 since I got the X5).

I'm iPhone 15 Pro Max and still not working with 18.2. It worked fine in every prior iOS release since carplay started until iOS 18 busted text notifications on the X5. I'm a tech guy and all settings on carplay on the actual carplay interface on the BMW screen as well as on the iPhone notifications are all set properly.

The odd thing is I had a medication reminder popup correctly while I was on the Sirius XM screen so this is something specific to iMessage notifications being broken on carplay/bmw

I am using 16 Pro with 18.2 and I still get a pop up when a msg comes in on the screen (iD 7). I can have the car read it out and reply (in CarPlay) .... is that what is being discussed?

On a side note, now I get similar notifications for WhatsApp on screen too...

Not understanding the statement in your Edit. We are talking about using CarPlay.

In CarPlay ours works also. What we are referring to is using CarPlay as the connection mode but keeping it on the main iDrive screen. That used to display the message and enable us to click the iDrive controller to read it out/reply. Now just the chime plays that a new message has arrived but no notification banner.

I’m a bit confused. I use CarPlay as my connection mode but I’m in iDrive screen 100% of the time; however when I receive a message, it triggers CarPlay Screen and the message notification shows up at the bottom of the screen with the name of the sender. After a few seconds, if I do nothing it switches back to iDrive main screen. That’s how it’s always worked.

Reading your reply, I didn’t know it was possible to get a notification on the main iDrive screen (without the system switching to CarPlay.) What I’m I missing or doing wrong? Probably this only works if you include CarPlay as a widget in the iDrive main screen?

I couldn't even guess since I have never heard of it operating like you described. Given the function isn't working we really can't do any testing at this point.

I took delivery of a new 2024 m340ix in late July 2024, which I absolutely love.

At first, my text message alerts would open up the CarPlay screen and a little alert bubble would be there. Now, that only happens if I'm in the CarPlay screen. I spend most of my time with the iDrive screen open and not the CarPlay screen though.

The text alert chime sound works sometimes, and sometimes not at all. So occasionally I arrive at my destination to find a pile of missed text messages. A bit frustrating because I'm an independent sales rep.

I've done all the software updates, resets, and all. No change. I can't tell if it's an Apple issue or BMW issue, or both. . Would be nice if it gets fixed though.
