My production date was 2 Aug and I picked up on the 10th before the stop sale went into effect. I was unable to even turn on the option in the driving settings menu and it stumped the genius hotline and BMW Assist. They created a support ticket for IT on the 10th. Supposedly, I’ll hear back by next Thursday, but since the stop sale went into effect and is an acknowledged issue, I doubt I’ll receive a personal reply. Vehicle is in service now to repair rock chips that were in the paint at delivery. My CA felt they would have the fix and accomplish it on my vehicle before I receive it back early next week. And the VIN does now show STOP024988 when input into the German website.

Gotcha! Sorry to hear about the rock chips. That is what the stop sale is for, “Hands off Option Missing”. When did the dealer arrange for your pick up next week?

Monday is estimated but that’s not confirmed. It’s been in and out of sections of the collision center today and the hood is open. So, hopefully it’s in work now. It’s currently outside the building baking in the 109 degree temperature.

It’s almost a week since the stop sale was issued and this is crazy not gonna lie. If no resolution by early next week, I’m gonna have the dealer restart that process and build another car. This is ridiculous!

Thanks for confirming this; I suspected the dates provided by BMW weren’t firm.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He said the stop sale remedy is in and he’s keeping his techs there until midnight to get these cars out the door. So it is software. He said my X5 M60i will be ready for pickup tomorrow.

Sounds like it is a relatively simple fix which is good news for the guys waiting for delivery. Glad that I missed this mess by a few weeks.

Just Heard from the PDC. They have the fix and are processing cars. Mine will meet the 8/28 planned delivery date.

"Our Service Dept. will perform the described procedure to check if the license agreement for that vehicle option is showing on the vehicle. If not, they will program the vehicle to activate that feature."

Lots of potential legal issues with this automation I expect.
