I believe it takes so long because of stop sale. Mine was 3-4 weeks in transit and stuck for 2,5 weeks at dealership after it arrived because of tank leak module issue.

First off, thanks to everyone in this thread for their experiences. Long-time listener, first-time poster.

Next, my data points:
- Ordered my 50e from BMW Seattle on/about May 24
- Production occurred on June 17
- Arrived at Renton port on July 10
- Stop sale for DMTL on July 12
- SA called me on July 28 saying the fix would be installed today (July 29). Not impacted by other recalls (knee air bag, etc.)
- Expecting to take delivery on July 30

@lazy_snail: Did you receive the two charging cords/adapters as others have mentioned? I'm just curious if they're being provided with new deliveries by BMW or if I'll have to negotiate with BMW Seattle for both of them.

The charger that come with the car comes in two part - 1) the main unit with charging gun, and 2) a 110v adaptor cable that feeds into the main unit. It does not come with the NEMA 6-50 adaptor cable

As of now the NEMA 6-50 adaptor cable can be purchased thru parts dept (MSRP $213) but cannot be ordered as accessory with the car. There seems also to be long wait lead time to order.

Some dealers have been giving the 6-50 as well as the 110 adapter to customers.

Yea, some dealer throw in extras as good will at their cost (as gift). I know dealers throw in extra all weather mats, or wheel locks, or cable / adaptors, trunk mats, and even "BMW bears" whatever that is

My car went out from factory (prod date: 21st of May) and it's still not at Seattle dealership, right now it's in a port of Renton (update status 3 days ago). You are lucky

Our dealer “gifted” us the 6-50 as well. Had to proactively note our desire to get the dongle though. I’m sure had I not mentioned it to them, they would not have included it.

Before the car arrived I had called around to other dealers who supposedly had them in stock. One told me they did have 8 but were reserving them for customers waiting for their new 50es (and I took it to meant they were giving them to those customers for free). So I would ask your dealer sooner rather than later so they can work on sourcing one for you while you wait for delivery. And hopefully they do the right thing and just give it to you.

6-50 adapter wasn’t included and I didn’t ask for one since I have level 2 charger at home, but got few other complimentary accessories, looks like they might add one if they have it

Nothing I’d call must have but I got all weather floor mats and luggage compartment mat. I have a feeling that it’s worth to ask for as many as you can, my problem was that I didn’t prepare and didn’t know what other accessories bmw offer

Floor mats (all weather) front and back
M license frame plate
BMW trunk mats
Charging cable adaptor
BMW Roof rack / roof cargo box (more expensive, may be a stretch)
BMW Wheel lock
Keyfob cover (may not available for the new key yet)

You can also check out

(For me I'd rather ask them for additional $$ discount if possible)

No... I just got the floor mat free. I did get a net 8% off MSRP before incentive though.

We picked up ours today. They had cleared the recall and (despite what the salesman said) they installed 8.5

Clearing things...

By reading this thread, one can assume that the Stop Sale and DMTL issues are simply resolved by just updating to Idrive 8.5. Is that correct or did I miss anything? And no parts needed to be replaced.

No, the knee air bag is a part and the DMTL is a software update.
