The ‘transfer’ of the successful MyBMW app ‘download’ to the car using the MyBMW app seems to be hung (status bar not advancing when viewing idrive Car/Settings/General-Settings/Remote-Software-Upgrade).

Car battery is fully charged, and I’ve been driving around trying to get the transfer from the phone’s MyBMW app to the car to restart & complete, but the status bar never advances….it’s frozen for 2 days now.

FYI, the upgrade automatically downloaded into the MyBMW app on both my phone AND my wife’s phone (two different BMW-IDs). So I’m not actually sure which phone accounts for the current partial transfer state, but so far neither phone’s MyBMW app seems to have automatically restarted the transfer to the car while we are driving with the phone connected to the car as required via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/Apps.

Perhaps the idrive system is confused by the two different phones attempting an upgrade. Or maybe this is just a continuation of the OTA issues others have experienced.

That is a common issue with the OTA update process, along with the Resume Shortly message and not starting the install. Just keep driving around as normal and hopefully it will finish. If not, a trip to the dealer would be the next step.

Go to Car -> Settings -> General Settings -> Remote Software Upgrade and it will show what version you have.

I just upgraded mine via ISTA to 11/2022.44 last night because I got tired of waiting for 07/2022 to become available via iDrive and with all of the complaints with failed OTA updates.
I want to do the same.. what do you need to get this done and how much does it all cost? Dealer wants to charge $450 out of warranty to update and I just want to do it myself.

Sigh… nvm. It’ll cost as much as the dealer (probably more) just to get my own Ista and power supply. Screw it. I guess I gotta be stuck on 07/2021.

Yeah. There's a cheap way and a safe way. You can technically get ISTA for free (older version 4.32) which you can still get latest firmware (full psdzdata)... but you have to know where to get stuff. The easiest, especially for people starting out is to just pay some folks $170-ish per year to get a "licensed" copy of ISTA with all updates as they are released. There have been 3 patches since I updated mine a month ago.

Next part is the interface. ICOM is the best way but then you choose between genuine P/N 81312360883 ($529 a couple years ago. Now much more expensive) or a Chinese clone.

Power supply ... you can make one from an old server power supply for less than $50 or pay hundreds for a real one.

There are lots of people that update their cars using only E-Sys software (free), full psdzdata (free) and an OBD to Ethernet adapter cable. It's all about risk tolerance. When I bought my ICOM I was retrofiting my wife's X7 with a trailer hitch and it needed coding and flashing modules. The cost of replacing a single bricked module was more than the cost of the ICOM and we owned 2 BMW's at the time. So for me it seemed like a worthy investment. I'm now on my 3rd BMW and see owning at least one on an ongoing basis.

If you're looking at it as a 1 time fix, it definitely does not make sense. If you're wanting to take more control over updates, troubleshooting, etc now that you're out of warranty ... maybe makes sense. Remember that $450 is a 1 time cost. What happens next quarter or the next?

Yeah for sure I agree. I’m still in warranty, I’m just saying they won’t update me within warranty because the new SIB states that if it’s updated to 2021/07 already, then there’s no further updates. It’s dumb.

Just did mine and it is a terrifying process - all sorts of clicking and noises and lights. Suspension goes up and down, steering wheel telescopes in and out, etc.

Note that, for mine, it would not charge after the update, and the red light would flash next to the charging port, until I unplugged the charger from the car, closed the charging door, opened the charging door, and then plugged the car back into the charger.

Yes. I did the update while plugged in. Maybe that was a mistake? It flashed red and stopped charging early in the process.

Got 11/2022.60 the other day. The update process was flawless. No obvious changes. The car still switches from Electric Individual to Hybrid time from time and it still forgets high beam assistant setting. Didn’t yet have a chance to confirm whether CarPlay gained any more stability or not, had to restart iDrive a few times a week to address issues like GPS not being found or a white screen in Waze in the previous versions.

have you looked into this?
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=29784878

while it worked to keep my vehicle from switching to Hybrid from default EI, I coded back to default 0x11 because it kept kicking it out of Load suspension level which is how I like to leave it while parked

i was out of town since december and got back last week. The car said it had an update when i got in to drrive. My auto seat heat and personal assistant seem to have disapeared. Is this part of the new update? I see i can pay for personal assistant by subscription. Is this a new thing?

I have indeed; thank you. However, it’s not big enough of an issue to me to go into coding. I’ve only noted it because it’s one of the bugs that have been mentioned here for a long time and for me it’s one of the indicators whether the bugs are fixed or not.

And can now confirm that in CarPlay I still have no GPS fix on startup time from time and it always gets fixed by restarting iDrive.

Welp, $350 out of warranty and I’m up to date now lol. United States 2022/11. Looks like dealers may not have 2023/03 yet, but hopefully I’ll start getting OTA updates now that I’m finally off 2021/07

Dealers should have access to 03/2023.60. Maybe they just haven’t started installing it yet for various reasons. I’ve had it for at least a couple of weeks and already updated mine.

I’m just happy my software isn’t almost two years old anymore. As long as I start to receive ota updates I’m good. If it goes out over a year again.. bmw will hear from me lol

Only thing I’m having trouble with now is the software in my app still shows the old. Anybody that has had the dealer update their software had the same thing happen?
