Ah yes, the "BMW knows better than you / you're not the target market" post. Thank you for providing this. So glad to be reminded that our opinion as consumers doesn't matter.

True, but not like the new 7 Series or X7, both of which are odd

I usually love the LCI on most BMW expect for:

G12
G01
G05

Specially dislike the G01, looks like the G05 heading the same direction.

BMW suddenly decided to screw up X5 now! Doesn't fit the look at all.

I think his point was that almost everyone complaining will still buy the new X5 and it will also bring in new buyers. The design changes are leading to greater sales and current owners are not leaving the brand either. It's not like the Pontiac Aztek type scenario where people didn't buy the car because of the crazy design.

There are definitely two different grill versions on these prototypes. Seems like the X5M will get its own front fascia like the M4 and M3. It has a much more angular grill shape.

That is correct and what we have been saying will happen with the LCI. That aside, we are referring to the G05 so past models are not being included. People on here are confused enough no need to add to it.

To me its one of those design updates many people dislike at first then learn to love. This happened to me many times including the G05 taillights when I first saw them and now I love the design. Although this design may have a different aesthetic I still dont think it will be enough to steer some of us that don't like it to other makes.

I guess time will tell.

The LCI G05 will sell. It will sell very well. All the comments that this is hideous or won't sell well are humorous at best. Take the X3 LCI, upsize it to the G05 size, and that's likely what we will see on this update.

Agreed. I used to love the way Bimmers look .. i have been driving one since 2008. The current X5 Msport looks incredible … but their stupid effing triangles and weird stuff (looking at you LCI X3, ix and others) are turning me off the brand. Starting to look elsewhere for the next car

Opinions of us enthusiasts on these boards don't equate to sales figures. Good news is, you can always just drive a pre LCI G05 if you prefer the styling. The G80 is a perfect example of the difference between opinions on these boards versus real world sales. Like I said, the LCI G05 will sell incredibly well, and the G01 as well. That's ultimately all BMW cares about.

I keep checking this thread to see if there is some change on the LCI date 😃 i know i know those dates March 2023 production are correct and the insider was never wrong…. It just sucks bcs I cant wait that long….still seems weird theyre testing cars more than one year before launch (given its an LCI)…

That is a fairly normal timeline. If you search for X7 LCI you will see articles from last winter talking about spy shots of it driving in the snow. Its LCI isn't until August so it was an even longer period.

Just my opinion, but BMW is catering to the ugly futuristic and already dated Genesis interiors. One of the many reasons I stick with the brand is it’s interior simplicity. You have buttons where you need them and everything is intuitive. You drive it, not stare at your dash and center console! The new floating IDrive 8 may be OK for an electric vehicle since they over design them anyway, but in my opinion it’s just a little funky for the legacy buyer. Once it’s mainstream, I am sure it won’t hurt sales though!

Thank you. I appreciate you commenting and yeah you are right, seeing X7 LCI photos for a while now. I thought theyre testing the hybrid but that does not seem to be the case. X7 would be great for me if it had 5 seats only and a fully covered trunk (also not happening) XM will have exactly that but at a price and lower visibility in the back (kids would not like that).
