New Year Lunar Sales Event - Extra $1,000 Credit!

Everyone - this will probably be the most important thread you read today. My SA just emailed me and told me about the New Year Lunar Sales Event, which gets you an additional $1,000 credit towards the purchase/lease of a new BMW. YOU HAVE TO SIGN UP BY TOMORROW. The link and the fine print are both below. (Note: I know the fine print says it applies to in-stock vehicles only, but my SA seems to believe it applies to our custom order also). Doesn't hurt to check with your SA. And for those buying an in-stock G05 X5, this no doubt applies to you!

LINK:

https://2020lunarnewyear.eventsbmw.com/

FINE PRINT:

$1,000 offer valid on eligible new model year 2019 and 2020 vehicles in dealer stock delivered and retailed through March 31, 2020. Models excluded are 2019 and 2020 X7, 8 Series (all variants), 2019 and 2020 M2 Competition, and M5 (all variants). This offer cannot be used for previously ordered or previously delivered vehicles and is only valid on delivery of in-stock vehicles. Offer valid to customers – and their family members residing within the same household, attending the Lunar New Year Sales Event and registering on site on January 24, 2020 through January 25, 2020. Offer valid on final negotiated price and may be combined with other applicable BMW offers that are available at the time of purchase. Only one OL number per vehicle may be used. Offer valid towards purchase price of eligible vehicle. Only valid at participating dealers. ©2020 BMW of North America, LLC. The BMW name, model names and logo are registered trademarks.

If this is like the typical "event" discount, it's usually $500 dealer contribution and $500 BMW corporate contribution. Any dealer you buy from, assuming you negotiated to the best will refuse to offer their contribution. Also, most of them won't apply to custom orders.

My dealer is applying it in full. Which makes sense given I wasn't getting the best deal anyway since I locked in January.

Great job! Any bonus incentive helps.

Did you have to select the dealer you're working with for them to honor the discount? This primarily appears to be West Coast dealers, and don't see anything east of Denver.

My dealer was on there, so I selected them. Didn't go through the full list though. Not sure if it's geographic, but it might be.

Per my dealer you have to “attend the event” which I am assuming only occurs at the preferred dealers which appear primarily on the west coast.

Hmm, that's odd. When I signed up, I received the attached email which only requires you to visit your dealership before March 31, 2020 to take delivery of a car. My SA isn't requiring me to go to the dealer at a separate time or anything like that to "attend the event." The redemption code is all he needs to apply it to my deal.

Hmm interesting. I emailed my CA to see if we could use it, fingers crossed!

It’s only for certain markets. If you go to the link and click the drop-down menu it shows the participating dealers.

Would this be stackable with the penfed rebate? I'm thinking no since the incentive matrix showed that military j incentives were not stackable with OL codes but wanted to see if anyone else knew for sure.

Thanks

It's for in-stock vehicle only so ordering doesn't work.

Unless my SA is really dropping the ball, he's applying it to my custom order. We'll find out soon enough!

My dealer just told me about and applied 1/2 the credit (BMW Corporate portion). So I will be getting an additional $500 credit, and I have a custom order.

That's my thread, and yes, I was able to get OL, Penfed, and loyalty last month.

Thanks. I forwarded to my SA to see what he says. My car is a custom order so I'm not expecting them to honor it but we'll see.

so, did you have to get it from one of the listed dealers or can I just choose any dealer from the drop down list and still send it to my dealer?

You can select any dealer and you'll still be sent a code. I tried to get my SA to apply mine to a custom order but he said he couldn't do it bc I didn't buy from off the lot.

It's sounding like it's really up to each dealer if they want to apply it to a custom order or not. Technically once the car arrives and they put it in their system, it's an "in-stock" car. Not sure how my SA is doing it, but he's applying to my deal in full on a custom order.

My guess is most dealers consider our transaction as a "done deal" with no upside to absorbing a $500 discount.
Perhaps would be a bit more agreeable if used as credit on accessories such as mats etc.

I understand their reluctance.

True, though they should at least apply the $500 from BMW NA that will in no way affect the dealer's profit.
