You're correct, from everything I've seen they are all sold.

I spoke with my SA a couple weeks ago and he thought HK would be coming back to the X5 40i and 45e in the second half of this year, perhaps going along with the mid-cycle refresh. I think this was just his speculation though. He did say BMW would update the online configurator as soon as HK becomes available, since they want to let people know that it is available.

Wow, HK is indeed back on the X5 45e. I just checked the US configuratior. Thank you!
For the model re-fresh, yes I believe my SA was referring to mid-cycle re-fresh occurring for the 2023 model year. |

That is not correct, as mentioned above, the refresh isn't until next year which is the 2024 model year.

Man, where is Radio Shack when you need it. A major luxury brand offering a no name brand sound system is a sin!

Its presence is noticeable, even if it doesn't perform like custom aftermarket installations (which, if done properly, have price tags in the several thousands, if not tens-of-thousands, of dollars). A true audiophile would probably hate on the B&W system, too! |

differing opinion
I have to respectuflly disagree. the HK is adequate as far as i'm concerned. In my 530i that is being returned next month, it was fine for the last 3 years and I listen to a TON of music. Yes, a 5k upgrade custom system would be amazing, but I don't need to dump 5k into the car stereo when i'm in it for 30 mins a day.
My disagreement is whether it's worth it. For $875, It is 100% worth it. The HiFi is utter garbage. We ended up with it in my wifes 430i as that was the car available and it was really completely unlistenable. I changed the amp and all speakers myself and it's pretty great. but not exactly any better the HK. My 2 cents anyways. You know what they say about opinion. Just adding to the discussion in case it help anyone choose. If you're not going to do a massive custom install, At least toss in the HK. $875 isn't really that much on this. Quote:

But it requires quite a few more pennies. I've been impressed with it the few times I've heard the B&W in other cars. In fact, when I was ordering last spring, I opened up my piggy bank and was willing to cover the B&W cost if BMW would have made it available (as HK wasn't), but alas they said go pound sand. Fortunately, I snagged one of the last HK 45es off the line... Personally, I find very few flaws with the B&W and would be overjoyed to have that option, but I'm more of a B+ audio student; I'm sure the A+ kids can point out its shortcomings. |

I would have been very happy to pay up for the B&W, but it was never an option on the 45e. I'll give the HK a long test drive, and if necessary swap out the speakers (and maybe amp) if it proves inadequate

to clarify, B&W was never an option for the 'US' 45e, though it's offered in Canada and some EU countries. lucky them, eh? i would've optioned it if was offered to us
