New M60i Questions
I've had my new M60i for 3 days (it was built last week!) and I have a few questions.
1. The ASS can be disabled by either turning on traction control or turning off DSC. Both are separate menu items...what's the practical difference between turning off DSC and turning on Traction Control? 2. When first starting the car it immediately runs at 1500 RPM for about 25 seconds before returning to 500 RPM. What is the purpose of this? 3. I noticed no difference in sound whether the iconic sound is off or on. Does it only make a difference in sound at high RPM? 4. Is there a way to remove the rear seat headrests. I virtually never have back seat passengers and when the rear seats are down I can't position the drivers seat back as far as I would like since the headrests block the movement. Love the car so far! |

1st option let your car's wheel slip bit more before applying auto brake to allow more sporty driving. 2nd option will turn off most of stability control system and you should be extra careful when flooring your 500+ hp car in rainy/snowy condition. 2. When first starting the car it immediately runs at 1500 RPM for about 25 seconds before returning to 500 RPM. What is the purpose of this? To heat up catalytic converters. 3. I noticed no difference in sound whether the iconic sound is off or on. Does it only make a difference in sound at high RPM? Iconic sound is just fake noise coming from the speaker. You only hear the difference when you accelerate or release gas pedal for fake burble sound. |

I’m not sure if you can remove the rear headrests completely but you can fold them so they don’t stick out as much when you put the seats down. Hopefully this makes it a little better

Manual says they are not removable.
I haven’t tried yet but I’m sure they are but you’ll need to release the one side with something like a small flat head screw driver. The ones in my M3 were the same way/design but I was able to pop them out.

I have not seen an LCI but would imagine they still have a lock button.

Unfortunately I've tried that but the non lock side won't release so you can't get the headrest to come out all the way. I know I can fold the headrest flat but that still doesn't allow enough room. Of course with the seat up its not an issue but I occasionally need to have the back seats folded down especially during long trips.

The manual for the LCI says the rear head restraints cannot be removed, personally I don't see them as a problem.

The pre-LCI manual says the same things but the screenshot I posted was from the technical bulletin for removing the headrests on the 2019 40i so figured it was worth a shot.

Head restraints were not meant to remove, per DOT safety regulations.
