Just my $0.02
Putting it into comfort mode doesn't that close the dampers and lower the noise/popping sounds? My thinking of ordering the M50i vs. the 50i is that I can get the best of both worlds. I'm new to BMW so I'm looking for education and opinions.
I'm looking purely at the M50i simply because I can't stand the black wheel trim. I don't really care about the extra HP or the M performance parts... I just want body color wheel arches with a TTV8

All you have to do is order the MSport version and you will get body colored wheel arches. The black plastic ones are only on the X-Line.

No “M-Sport” package for the V8TT 50i for 2020. The M50i is now the new V8TT M-Sport alternative.

Yep... And in my opinion the black wheel arches make the car look like a base model. I don't want to pay a premium for the V8 just to have the car look like a base model.

Yeah...that why I'm ordering Black Sapphire, the wheel arches blend in.

That’s only for US-Spec.

Well, it looks like 1 North America X5 50i came off the line today with roof rails, and it was a Canadian car. All other US and Canadian cars are still being built without roof rails.

At this price point, compromise without such a big styling element is unreasonable and bizzar. All those that purposely waited for the "2nd year" production to avoid this kind of crap is now having their own personal nightmare.

Well couple reasons to wait a few months on the M50i. First straighten out issues like this & get some decent incentives. But personally If I bought now, the bulked up 523hp/553lb V8 greatly outweighs roof rails
that I would likely never use.

I keep checking production status for my m50i...originally did NOT show roof rails as Std equip...it does now show high gloss roof rails as Std features. If it arrives w/o I will pass and reorder.

I drove an m50i today. it did NOT have roof rails. dealer had no idea but they just got the car a few days ago. Test drive was outstanding, definitely more power than the 50i, but also drives nicely in suburban traffic, even acceleration. I also test drove a x50i with DHP and it felt way more planted. After driving both, get the M50i with DHP, hell just get DHP on every vehicle if you're sensitive to body roll (the sales guy noticed it too, first time he rode in one)

So it seems the 2020 M50i exhaust is the same as the 2019 50i, but the 2020 50i will have a toned down exhaust? I'm guessing the same is true for the suspension - likely no difference from 2019 50i to 2020 M50i.

In other words, the engine is the only difference with the M50i. I'm glad that all first accounts say that the power bump is noticeable, otherwise it would effectively be the same car.

Where did you hear it has the same exhaust as the 2019 50i? I’d love to confirm this. My hope is that it’s more like the M850i I drove.

The launch thread states that the suspension has been modified and tuned by M GmbH for the M50i. And for 2020, DHP only available on M50i.

Not sure if 2019 xline 50i got m-sport exhaust, but I think 2019 m-sport 50i had it.

But the press release doesn't say there is a difference from the 2019 50i m-sport. I'd bet money they are exactly the same suspension.

Slightly incorrect. Unfortunately we need to be more precise or parse the V8 model lines when discussing 2020 M50i (2019-20 M50d), 2020 50i xLine, 2019 50i xLine and 2019 50i optioned with ZMP M Sport Package.

For 2020, the M50i is separate model line and feature equivalent to the 2019 50i optioned with ZMP M Sport Package.

1MA M Sport Exhaust is standard both the 2020 M50i and 2019 X5 50i optioned with ZMP M Sport Package. There are slight M GmbH tuning differences in the M Adaptive suspension between the 2020 M50i and the 2019 50i with ZMP but generally similar.

For 2020, the 50i xLine exhaust and standard suspension is the same as 2019 50i xLine.
