Of course, looking at new Mercedes models, they don't follow that same design paradigm anymore.
When I thought you said "passively done" I thought about the heat from the light bulbs (now LED...).

Is that the reason for the 3D ribs? If anything, thought that'd hold more snow. Come to think of it, my old W204 tail lights were slightly ribbed too. Always thought it was for aerodynamics than the snow reason. There were some air vents in the rear lights and if I recall correctly from the marketing materials which I read back to front many times back then (bit of a car nerd), the vents in the ribs increased the downward force on the vehicle for greater high speed stability.

Edit: will take the chance to post another photo of the G05 - this time by chance found and parked next to a previous gen F15 X5 also in white. I believe it's an X Line as well? Uncanny similarities in the window lines and rear boot angle and spoiler. It's as if they were siblings!

Ja, F15 xLine where the owner slapped on X5M air breathers LOL...

The X5 greenhouse hasn't significantly changed over the generations which is nice. The slight uplift to H-kink is new but at least BMW designer's haven't ruined that iconic design element on the G05... until my next gen... sigh.

No wonder. Without being familiar with the F15, thought those gills looked quite nice. Not a big fan of the shape of the gills on the G05. X5M ones are much nicer, but then mine isn't an X5M.

Just got my car yesterday after over 4 months. X5 45e, all included. Put in some little add-ons. On the winter wheels for the moment

When compared to each other visually, the msport looks so much nicer especially from the back. The reflectors on the rear bumper on the xline are placed lower and are in fact around 2 inches longer. They also emphasize the plastic black bumper which looks really cheap in my opinion.

Here are the pics i took.
Wow never noticed that reflector variance. Thanks!

Thank you....you know, I normally do such things, but I remember reading it was difficult for this car. Just looked at diy instructions, and looks similar to the m5, but with one additional step. I'll likely move forward with this little mod.
