BMW driver survives being crushed between 2 semitrucks

The driver was extracted and taken to the hospital with minor injuries

It’s the ultimate survival machine.

A BMW driver sustained only minor injuries when his 3-series was sandwiched between two semitrucks this week.

The accident occurred on a ramp to the M1 highway in Loughborough, U.K., on Wednesday, SWNS reported.

Photos show the car completely destroyed, except for the front passenger compartment. Fortunately, no one else was along for the ride as a child seat can be seen smashed up against the driver’s seat.

Emergency crews had to tear the car open to get at the driver, who escaped relatively unharmed.

"It was a complicated extraction but the casualty was freed and taken to hospital with only minor injuries,” the local fire and rescue service wrote on Twitter.

The cause of the crash has not been officially released.

Although it differs somewhat from the European model, the 3-Series is an IIHS top safety pick with the highest crashworthiness ratings across the board.

These are definitely safe vehicles, but that's not a 3 series as the article states.

Doesn't look like one, and those wheels are the 22" 747M, found on the current X5/X6.

Rear passengers would not have made it out of that one alive.

basically the semi trucks squeezed the X5 and into the size of a 3 series

Good Lord. Someone who survived that crash with minor injuries is definitely blessed.

As the Fox News article seemed to be making facts up (what's new, eh?) such as calling the car a "3 Series", for example, when it's an X5, I decided to research some other news sites local to the accident in the UK, and they all report that there was also a 7-year-old girl invloved who received minor injuries. As it's unlikely she was in either of the two trucks, I'm assuming she was in the back of the X5. So it appears someone DID get out of the rear alive.

As for the crash, it looks like a classic example of someone using their mobile phone while driving and failing to see the traffic in front had come to a stop.

If anybody wants to see what the consequences of using a mobile phone while driving are, take a look at this...

It's also what makes me think twice of what happens in a wreck with a giant Lith. Polymer battery

I might be mistaken, but those look like the wheels from an X3 M40i as do the door panels.

Either way amazing that anyone survived that and even more so a backseat passenger.

Negatory. X3 has the same interior-generation as G30, this is definitely an X5.

Phenomenal testimony to safety engineering. No ad agency required. Very relieved to learn that no major injuries occurred.

I see that child seat in the back. That wouldn't have gone as well so thank goodness it was unoccupied.

Pretty sure it's a 3 series touring. It's not a x5.

Edit.

Now that i've looked into it, i'm not sure anymore what the hell is this car.

What mathers is the driver is safe. Cheers.
