When I look at pictures of the merino leather on BMW site it does not show any wrinkles. Is it safe to assume that the wrinkles are only a part of the design for the vernasco leather option?

No, it is for both leather types. Ignore the configurator.

Edit: I haven't checked examples in a few months but it did seem they made a change for MY21 in the number and size of the ruching. Many seats appear to be almost smooth with very small "wrinkles".

Was talking with someone locally who just ordered a G05 and they thought the M Sport Suspension has Air Suspension on the rear as part of the package and the AS option for $150 adds it to the front. Is that correct?

I've read threads that discuss "Leather Dash" and "Full Merino Leather" options but I don't see it in my order guide. Does anyone know if it's still available and if so, how does that differ from Ext Merino?

Lastly, if I'm not mistaken, all references to HK sounds system has been removed from the X5 pages. Is this still available and if so, can you get it as a separate option?

No, no, and no.

Adaptive M Suspension front and rear axles use standard steel springs and struts. 2VR 2-axle air suspension ($150 option with ZMP) replaces Adaptive M Suspension with 2-axle air suspension front and rear.

For MY21, 4M5 Leather dash option was removed for xDrive40i models and only available on M50i.

For MY21, Full Merino Leather option for all X5 models was removed. Difference from Extended Merino is Full Merino leather includes 4M5 Leather dash option and added leather lower dash. See my attached photo of a MY20 full Merino ZBEI (Ind) Ivory White /Night Blue Full Merino Leather - I've color coded the leather options:

Yellow dots: Extended Merino leather option (for MY21 the yellow dot on the center tunnel below armrest is no longer covered in leather)

Green dots (for MY21 available on M50i only): 4M5 Leather dashboard option consists of upper dashboard and front & rear door window sills

Full Merino leather option (for MY21 not available) = yellow + green + orange (lower leather dashboard); 40i - $4800 / $3350 in combo with ZMP; 50i / M50i - $3350

There's been lots of threads recently that HK option has been temporarily removed from Executive and Premium packages. There's a new Premium Package 2 reflecting that change and with price reduction.

Thanks for the info, as usual the SAs are clueless. Almost like you order the car and once it comes you see what you got. Have been talking to another dealer but they are about as knowledgeable as the other group I’m working with. That said, thankful I can get answers on this forum, it's extremely helpful, wonder if the SA's pay attention to it.

Full merino leather is still available for the 2021 X5M.

Context of my reply to VertigoAtHome was regarding X5 xDrive40i that he and I have been discussing at length for sometime. If he was inquiring which X5 with full Merino leather as an option then I would have replied X5M.

Yep, I’m ordering an X5 M Sport. Pretty much have everything decided, only question is whether the go with the AS or M Suspension. Order goes in tomorrow so I need to decide soon. I haven’t been able to test drive the AS but I’m inclined to go with it based on reviews here and experience with Porsche AS which is magnificent. Sounds like people who have it are happy and can find a firmness they like and can make it sticky on startup.

Unless you need the sportiest ride possible at all times, I say go for the air suspension. It will give you the most comfortable ride yet some sportiness when wanted.

Edit: I would imagine you have seen the threads but keep in mind that the HK sound system is currently not available so if you were wanting that (which many people recommend) you may need to hold off on ordering for a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. I edited my response above... am I correct in that you can tune the firmness and assign it to be the default on startup?

I did see the info on HK. I need to get the order in now while the incentives are good. So no HK, bummer.

I'm going to say no to that. There are different drive modes and the the suspension feel/firmness is among the driving factors that are effected by the drive mode selected. Others would include steering, throttle response, and the ride height. The default drive mode is always Comfort unless you use coding to default to another drive mode. I have mine set to default to Adaptive.

If anything, the incentives should get better. I don't see any reason that they would be decreased.

By "coding" you mean that I can set the default drive move via BimmerCode?

Adaptive mode sounds perfect from what I've read, however I've read you can customize the performance settings and save those for the drive mode presets. I'd have to image you can do that for all the modes, but in particular I've seen references to "Sport Individual". Is Sport Individual is same as Sport with customized settings? The X5 40i M Sport I'm getting has Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Adaptive. Is Sport+ is available on the M Sport, and if so how to you select it? Double click the Sport Mode?

Yes, Bimmercode is the easiest way to code the default drive mode.

You can only code the drive options for Sport Individual which is Sport with the customized settings. Press the button twice for Sport+ I believe. I don't remember if I ever did it.

Because of low inventory both in new and used cars due to the semiconductor shortage and other issues. Production is under pressure. That's not going to lower prices anywhere soon.

While that is true it is also coming to the end of the MY where traditionally incentives are used to move remaining inventory.

Placed my order today, XDrive 40i M Sport, Alpine White over Coffee Ext Merino Multi-Contoured seats w/ Anthracite-Brown Poplar trim, 22" Bi-color wheels, M Sport Brakes, Ext Shadowline Trim, Hitch, Heated steering wheel. Looking forward to getting it, relieved the decisions are over. Lingering thoughts about the the Poplar Trim, like the matte finish but seems like it has a lot of variability between great and borderline unacceptable, but I decided to take a chance on it.

Couldn't get HK stereo so I ditched the Premium package... no interest in the Executive package for the price.

With our practical luxury SUV out of the way, on to the 911 (or maybe a C8)!

In any event, thanks for helping me through this process!

BTW, got it for 10% off + $3500 incentives. Again, what helped is reading this forum's thread on what others were getting and from who, saved me thousands!

Tried placing an order today. Dealer indicated air suspension now unavailable with no ETA. Bummer, first HK now AS. Looks like its gone online on the build tool as well.

It is still available in the configurator. I have a feeling things are going to get a lot worse before it gets better. May have to write off the rest of MY21 and look forward to MY22.
