Nitto NT420V tires in snow

I do the occasional snow driving when visiting my family in the mountains near me. It isn’t enough to buy dedicated winter tires but I wanted something better than the summer tires that came on the car. I got the nitto nt420v tires put on despite not many reviews out there. On my trip, I thought they did great on freshly plowed roads- had a lot of grip and could brake aggressively without sliding around. I was also able to go up and down really steep roads without slipping, so I was happy with them. I didn’t have the opportunity to drive in deep snow however. As far as road noise, handling, etc., they seem to be on par with the stock continentals.

Ahh thanks for the review! I just bought these for mine and was worried they wouldn't be that great. Not many all season options out there for the 742s.

Awesome info. I was planning to try out the 22" Nitto in the late summer/fall, but may switch sooner now that I hear someone has tested them out. I was going to wait more so to get some non-scientific sound measurement for the forum in similar conditions to compare to the PZeros since people complained about road noise; I figured the car is quiet enough as is and with acoustic glass I wouldn't have an issue, but thought people in the group might be interested in actual dB readings. Was hoping to run all-seasons permanently on the G05. I wouldn't be planning to drive the G05 in conditions anywhere what you are tackling unless absolutely necessary. We often take the wife's car or trips like that.

Would like to hear your review as well, especially concerning noise.

Interested in hearing others reviews as well! Looking for some all-seasons ASAP to get me through NYC winter before moving to TX in June. Looks like the Pirelli AS are on back order, so may settle on the Nittos. Thanks for sharing!

Edit: Ordered (supposedly) the last full set from discount tire. Will update once I've tested them out.

Drove up to Vermont with the Nittos this week. I thought they handled phenomenally. Was in a pretty serious snow storm with zero issue. Temps were at or below zero for several days. Drove up and down several steep roads that were covered in packed snow with zero issue. Tested the braking and accelerating with very minimal slippage. Was able to back out of my parking spot that had 6 inches of fresh snow without issue. As far as road noise, MAYBE a tiny bit more than the stock summer tires, but totally unnoticeable with a little music on. Handled well on dry roads as well.

Thanks for sharing your perspective and adding to this thread. Input is greatly appreciated. I think I'll be trying them out in the fall.

Couldn't agree more. I've been using these for about a week now and have zero complaints. Handling is great, and like cubanbimmer3 said the increase in road noise is negligible. I haven't driven them with any precipitation but it was in the 20s here the other night and tires were still grippy. Overall I'm really satisfied with these and don't regret getting these over the more expensive Pirelli AS option.

I have these on my 21 X6 m50 and I must agree these tires are great! Glad I went with these as well. Took a road trip recently about 5 hours up to PA. Tires did great in both rain and snow. Road noise is irrelevant due to the loud volume on the BW system lol. No complaints

Nice to know that don't experience any appreciable increase in road noise WITHOUT acoustic glass.

Thanks for the reviews. So far I've managed just fine without A/S; I'm hoping I can live without them until lease end, but if I have to get some, these are definitely it versus the way more expensive Bentley ones.

Is that Sap Black, or am I seeing browns in that first picture?

Any others with reviews on the Nitto NT420V. They may be in my future, but would love to hear reviews on these.

This is great info.

I live in Houston but make a yearly trip to PA for the holidays. I’m thinking about just running these year round.

Hey bong, mind giving an update on the tires now that you’ve driven on them for a while?

Anyone else have any reviews or thoughts they want to share?
