Fuel Prices
I was reading a thread about cost to charge at EV plug in stations and the regional differences in the US and Europe. That got me thinking about fuel prices and what people are paying for gas. In 2006 when I was living in Bahrain I remember Premium costing ~$.025/liter with gas station attendants doing all the work, was a wonderful time to drive a (old) BMW 5 series M (it drank more coolant than gas). I live in Illinois (high gas tax state) on the boarder with Missouri (low gas tax state) and did a quick search on Premium Prices and wonder how they compare (all prices are $/gallon) to what others are paying.
Sam’s Club Gas (Walmart’s Club Store) IL Sam’s : $2.97 MO Sam’s: $2.52 Average Station Price IL: $3.16 MO: $2.81 I usually try and fill up in Missouri when I’m on that side of the river. |

Our gas taxes are fairly high. I always fill up at Costco, it is currently $2.86 for Premium.
This is interesting, the map of prices from GasBuddy:

In the US, most of you guys are paying peanuts for gas. Premium here at Costco is $3.64.
Mobil, Shell, Chevron ranges from $4.06-$4.27 a gallon. But at least we never see anything colder than 40° and certainly none of that snow/ice slop. Last edited by BobsM3Coupe; 02-27-2021 at 07:24 PM.. |

Everyone will praise electric until every vehicles is 100% electric, and the price of electricity doubles what gas used to cost in the future! Just wait.....

After seeing some of the costs I don’t feel so bad about my “expensive” gas!
I love having the power of my V8, I also loved having the flexibility and economy of PEV hybrid (best of electric and ICE) though running on ICE only turned my jumpy little car into an underpowered Malibu. |

I don't feel they will. Just really increase the electric prices so everyone will contribute to the general fund (more money that way) and impose a pollution tax since it generates more emissions making the electricity. They can't get it off fossil fuels to make electricity in the next 50 years no matter what they say or do. |

Having worked and traveled in Europe, I know we in the US have a great deal on gasoline by comparison. While I'd always rather pay less (who wouldn't), I'll never complain too loudly about our gas prices here.

In the last 5-7 years, I always filled up at Chevron and saw 3-4 miles/gal increased in the mileage vs Costco gas. This was a long time ago when I did the comparison. We got a new Costco opened up around 5-7 min driving from my place and I started filling up from Costco for my old F15 40e and 530e. Just picked up 2021 40i and 2021 530i yesterday. Was curious to know based on your experience should continue at Costco for fill up? |

I've gotten gas all over California from both Costco and local gas stations (typically Chevron, then Shell, then 76 in preferential order; I don't get the no name stuff). Never noticed a difference in mileage over a variety of cars.
Just got gas earlier today from Costco. $3.69 for Premium 91 octane. |

Not as far as I know. Other than when out of the area I use it exclusively. Just checked the other day and I am at 24.6mpg overall since it left the factory which seems good. Costco fuel is TopTier so it has all the detergents recommended by the manufactures.

That is why you get solar and battery backup for your house. Looking at doing that at the house I am building, after the week of MN winter in TX and spotty power. Double benefit of reducing my electric bill in the summer. I have a PHEV now, with a level 2 charger and haven't noticed any change in my monthly electric bill.

Thanks, will use Costco for gas as both new cars are now 100% gas as opposed to the last leases that were hybrid.

Middle of the country, 91 octane $3.77. That's up, BTW, over a dollar from January. I expect it to hit $4+ by the Summer.
