I have a new 2021 x5 and have checked the setting to automatically lock the doors after a few minutes. It is not working and the car will not autolock. Is this a common problem? I am using my iphone as smart key.

In my wife's G30, the behavior is as follows:

you drive the car then stop.
you leave the car then lock it.
you come back to the car and unlock it but then change your mind. (You NEVER opened the door.)
the car will auto lock after a few minutes.

the key to auto lock after a few minutes is that the car was already locked to begin with, and you don't open the door after unlocking it. it does not auto lock when you're done driving and walk away from the car. this is how it works for my G30.

I never liked this setting, so I never enabled it in my G05 nor tested it if the behavior is any different. per the manual, it doesn't appear to be despite the wording change.

Auto lock work only with original keys, not with digital key or digital card
