It's as if no one here has any knowledge of history before today or any knowledge of the world outside of their talk radio bubble. You may want to read about French history a little and see how totally in line with the French character this all is. These events are literally one of the defining traits of the French along with arrogance, bread and philosophers.

France has always had a push and pull balance between the people and the government many times resulting in violent clashes or even a very bloody revolution. It's quite literally a part of the French national DNA. These types of events happen every few years.

But as usual the idiots here transpose their own strange beliefs onto a given situation. It reminds me when similarly violent protests with burning cars were happening during the 2016 election rhetoric. There weren't too many Mexicans in Paris, so the morons here figured out a way to blame muslims for it. Of course you have to roll your eyes as these geniuses didn't realize that the French burn cars every 6 months. Fast forward to 2018 and muslims are pase so the new boogeyman for you idiots is to blame is socialism.

While you are on a roll, you might as well blame socialism for Germans liking beer or the British for bad teeth
I'd be interested in hearing the perspective of somebody from France here. Somebody level-headed.

Thanks to social media the internet is filled with gut reactions and you only hear the extremes from both sides. Most recently, we have a whole faction of society blaming Trump for what General Motors just pulled. Anybody with even a remote understanding of how the automotive industry works knows this was driven by GM's greed and incompetence. But hey, it's an excuse to blame the person who won't let me take a $hit in peace, let's have to it.

You make some valid point with respect to the French and the way they protest the government historically, it's too bad that you feel it necessary to suggest that folks who may not be familiar with that history are limited in intelligence as their only sphere is talk radio, that they are stupid and morons.

Just because someone isn't knowledgeable in an area doesn't make them stupid or a moron.

ol mate is not wrong, eastern europe is much safer than west now, principally when you look at the sheer volume of terrorist attacks in west since opening their borders to the third world african and arab states

and before you scream but mah freedoms of speeches, have a look at hate speech laws in UK and what people are getting arrested for - the only difference bw western and eastern europe now seems to be knowing you live in an authoritarian state

but back on topic, i'm glad the people are protesting this bs climate w̶a̶r̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶o̶o̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ change taxation grab, even if it means the ubiquitous opportunistic looting that comes with it

I think most yellow jacket protesters are unemployed scum living on welfare, which is funded of course partially through the tax on fuel.
Lower that tax and they get less, so essentially they're pretty stupid.

And for those here that say that this is an example that 'socialims has failed' is utterly utterly stupid.
These guys protest against the increasing void between the lower class and higher class. This is a protest FOR socialism. But some people here simply don't understand that.

Normal people are to busy with their lives and jobs to earn a decent wage and don't have the time to participate in such stupid protests. Then you know automatically which kind of people do have the time...

imo the socialism connection is there, but i come at it from a diff angle

as these western gov's roll out more and more of these socialist/virtue signalling programs, they will rely on the taxation pool more and more to fund it, to the point where financially competing in the free market economy no longer makes sense on an individual level - which is what seemingly was the cause for these protests in the first place

so what we will see, on the current coarse, is more people becoming dependent on gov welfare/subsidizes as they exit the job market, plus opening border to a populous demographic reliably dependent on these programs and thus voting for them, which will increase the taxation burden, and eventually lead to a point where your country can no longer leverage taxable income of future generations to borrow to fund the debt

historically at that point, your country either goes to war, or becomes a socialist state

Yes, I am sure Russia is a much safer place to live in the USA. Probably safer than Australia also. Plus no salties near St. Petersburg, or brown snakes near Moscow. Luckily Putin invaded Crimea in order to get rid of the Sydney funnel spiders from Sevastopol. I'm surprised you haven't moved, mate.....

thought we were comparing eastern and western europe as per topic of this thread

but sure if you want to move the goal posts of this conversation to confirmation bias your original point we can, and i'd happily agree that living in USA or Aus is better than anywhere in europe atm

I've spent time in London and Dublin, seem like nice places. I can't imagine picking Anywhere in Eastern Europe over those places.
