maintenance agreement

Do you all suggest opting for a pre-paid maintenance agreement? To my understanding this is completely separate from extended warranty and covers things like brakes, wipers, fluids, oil, etc? Seems like what comes with the vehicle is limited to just oil and filter for 3 years? How quickly do brakes tend to need replacement on average? Is ~$1900 a good price for 4 years/50k miles for pre-paid maintenance? Thanks! This is all sort of new to me!

I got the brakes covered for $600 additional. I am betting this will pay for itself. I didn't get any other extra coverage. I also wasn't aware that they don't cover all services except oil changes anymore (brake fluid for example). Is that accurate?

Does the price change depending on date, miles, etc?

I think as long as you're within the first 36k miles it's the same but if double check

Was this a dealer specific offer?

I opted for the brake coverage as well on Friday. I think its called ultimate care plus. As someone else said. If you have just one brake job it pays for itself. No its not dealer specific, its a BMW product. https://bmwusaservice.com/ultimatecare

If the dealer I'm buying mine though pulls that I'm going to be very disappointed. I don't see why luxury dealers would try to pull those dumb schemes. Well, I can see that, it's hard finding a good deal

There are versions of Ultimate Care that cost more than $600.

I went to the page below and it gave a price of $1,499 for an X5 (after entering specific data) for Ultimate Care+ with more coverage than brakes, clutch, and wipers.

Extended Maintenance Options

Here is the information that appears in the configurator. BMW Ultimate Care+ (list price $600) adds wear and tear items to the 3/36 maintenance coverage. I purchased (at the time I took delivery) the BMW Ultimate Care + 1 Bundle (list price $1,849) that adds the wear and tear items AND extends that coverage to 4/50.

In a call to BMW NA Customer Relations, I discovered yesterday (6 weeks after taking delivery) that what is "in the system" is only BMW Ultimate Care +. I am now working with the dealership to get this corrected... and to get a written agreement/contract detailing provisions of the plan I purchased.

nyfinest25 's caution above would appear to be justified.

I'm pretty sure I got 4 years / 50K coverage for the brakes for $600. I'll double check to make sure it's not 3/36

Edit: also includes the wipers as well

My dealer says BMW sets the maintenance fees and they cannot make any changes. It would be of interest to know this is not the case.

I was told 4/50 but maybe the finance manager was mistaken, which is what I'm now assuming. This will be interesting. I'll report back

It is 3/36 I called and confirmed. I swear I was told 4/50. Oh well. I'm betting it will still pay for itself.
