I coded my F15 sport mode to be the default mode when the car is started. That kept the ASS off also. Bimmercode.

Auto S/S - Driver Profile - Please Confirm of Correct
Somewhere along the way, I thought I picked up these tidbits:
1. The default in Sport drive mode is A S/S off. 2. Drive mode is a setting that is included within a Driver Profile. 3. Driver Profile is cloud-based, is associated with a BMW Connected account, and can be uniquely associated with a key. 4. When the car detects a key, it configures the car in accordance with the profile assigned to that key. So I'm operating under the belief that I can set up the default configuration I want for the car (which would include Sport mode with A S/S off), assign that profile to my key, and have the car configure itself to my profile when it senses the key and I hit Start. To the extent I connected the dots correctly, seems like this would be an easy way to defeat A S/S. I hope to have time over Thanksgiving to work through this and will report back my findings. But if any folks are out ahead of me, thanks in advance for confirmation of or correction to my understanding. I think this solution, if it in fact works this way, would help a lot of people. NH_F36 Jay, any insights?

2. Not really — only the "individual" drive mode settings for sport and eco plus 3. True 4. True The problem in 2 which kills the whole thing is that a selected "startup" drive mode is not part of the profile so no matter what you do, the car always defaults to comfort mode. |

in regards to #4 what does it do if I have my key in my pocket and my wife's is in her purse and we're both in the car? I can see this being a problem a lot.

I think with the F15, it depended on who unlocked the X5. If unlocked in the garage, then I think it used the profile of the last driver.

I think I know why they call it a cockpit, you have to go through your checklist before you back out of your drive... about like getting ready to fly a plane. ok, not quite, but still...

The dealer can't code any special features.

This - dealers generally will not recode anything outside of default for you, you need to find someone to do some remote coding or someone local and independent.

I've used codemycar.com over the years and they've been great. Back when they did my 2013 X5, they offered one free re-code if your vehicle got reset by the dealer. That happened to me 4 years later and they honored the guarantee.

They used to be able to code this, but BMW changed Xpath so adding HO-Wort has no affect for ASS. Quote:
There are only two shared ECU's with G01/G30/G12 that still work. ECU that does ASS is one of them. Module that does seat belt chimes is as well. |
